I was about 60% of the way through the game and my save got destroyed. Idk whether to start over or just call it quits. Any advice?

You need to properly quit the game or you risk losing everything. Happened to me in ds1. I wouldn't call it quits tbh. Game is so good that if that happened to me yeah I'd be pissed but at the same time I wouldn't mind going through what I've already done again. There's already a couple things I would change this playthrough and I'm only at farrons keep. You'll make it back man.

1 ReplyPc or console?

My condolences

Idk how exactly it happened for you, but it happened to me in a previous game. The lesson is never close the app or turn off the console without exiting the game through the "quit game" option.

Thanks for the words of encouragement everyone. I woke up early today and now I'm pretty close to where I was. Thank you all!

You were playing on the secrect 'Hardcore' difficulty.

RIP. Speed run it again.

Your save has died.

1 ReplyDon't give up. It's happened in every other souls title as well

You can run through the entire game and collect all the items within 7 hours. I can make it to Crystal sage within 18 minutes, it's not that hard.
-
Definitely start over. How would you know how far you were?

Edited by Retro_Spective: 4/16/2016 8:26:45 AMHeard that's happening to people from rage quitting PvP invasions. The game uses a regular auto save function, rage quitters are closing the game, while it's in the process of saving which corrupts the file.

What console? My save somehow got corrupted and disappeared on Xbox. I just got finished with a really difficult boss and then dark souls just -blam!-s me over

If you've got a good idea of what to expect from where, I'd say give it a break for a day and then jump back in. Goes for any game really. Except pokemon.. fck training those things again.

Time to mod the game.

Edited by SpongyMallard7: 4/16/2016 1:44:42 AMDon't give up. You'll probably get back to where you were in less time than you did before.
