The way I see it is that the ghorn was going to make it so that other guns weren't used. Nobody would use truth, swords or sleeper simulant if it weren't for its removal. Also the srl was widely requested by a large portion of the community for a long time and this was Bungie simply listening to its community.

You could make that argument for the truth compared to the dragon breath and the sleeper isn't good no matter what you compared it too in my opinion, the ideas I had for making different sword types like Katanas/axes/staffs would have definitely made them appealing to use alongside ghorn
