1 ReplyI don't think it's going to be that big of a deal. Ps4.5 is probably just going to have a 4k bluray player, and maybe 4k upscaling support. Not native 4k.
-
Honestly they probably will be like how there were "slim" versions of previous consoles. Minor improvements, sleeker design and maybe more stable frame rates. They aren't going to make some kind of 4K monstrosity and split their fanbase. It would hurt the bottom dollar. I wouldn't mind seeing .5 model even if I would probably stick with the standard model.

Nope.
keep your dream.
1 ReplyPhil Spencer already said that they are not planning on releasing an Xbox 1.5
-
2 RepliesBad because If they add more processing power or some other hardware upgrade, eventually there will be games that can only be played on the 4.5 or 1.5, which defeats the purpose of a console. You buy a console (which is cheaper then a gaming pc) and can play all the games that come out for the system. It's bull if after 3 years they release a console with the same software, just better hardware. Pretty soon there will be exclusive games that are exclusive to the 4.5

1 ReplyI just got an Xbox 1 like 6 months ago... Wtf
-
I won't be buying it. I got the PS4 and One for when I want to relax on the sofa, my PC is for "serious" gaming. I won't be upgrading the consoles. If it gets to the stage where games are just being developed for the PS4.5 then i'll get rid of the consoles completely and just stick with my PC.

3 RepliesEdited by Vgnut: 4/16/2016 8:41:00 PMDepends. There are two ways this can go: 1. Microsoft and/or Sony copy what Nintendo has been doing for years with their handhelds. You get a marginally more powerful machine that is sold at a premium price. Yes, the premium machine might run games a little fast, maybe the fps are more consistent, but save for a few exclusives towards the end of the console's life you don't have any split in the user base. 2. Microsoft and/or Sony grossly misunderstand why people purchase consoles over a PC and actually split their user base. Given the negative outcry (just look at the user poll response in this thread) you would think neither company would be dumb enough to try it. Yet you would be wrong to assume that. These guys have a proven record of doing insanely stupid things that backfire. We don't even need to look that far back in history. Microsoft nearly eliminated themselves from the console market with their initial announcement of the Xbox One. And even after going back on their original plans they have done so much damage to the Xbox One that they'll most likely never come close to the PS4's success. Don't put it past some executive that knows nothing about video games to try something dumb. These clowns at the top will look at how Apple successfully sells a new iPhone every year and deduce the same can be done with a video game console. This might break the popular myth (and I'm sure self perception) of CEO's but they're not all the smartest people on Earth.

Bad as it'll alienate gamers if you must buy them for better graphics
if im being honest i could see myself buying both to replace the 2 that i have
-
So long as they allow play between ps4 and ps4.5, I'm indifferent. If people want to spend money on that, I'm fine. So long as it doesn't split the player base.
-
Edited by Psychic Donuts: 4/16/2016 8:02:00 PMWell, the Xbox 1.5 does exist and will never exist, and the PS4.5 will be too expensive for little gain.
-
5 RepliesIdont think anyone want to spend more 500$+ to watch videos on 4k
-
Edited by Retro_Spective: 4/16/2016 7:12:24 PMIt depends on what they're doing, wouldn't bother buying a new console for an upscaled 4k resolution. If they improve performance, so let's say a game like Dark Souls 3 can run at 60fps on the ps4.5. I would definitely upgrade.
-
I think these consoles are effectively the slim versions that they do throughout the console cycle, there's no way it's going to be a more powerful model that splits the playing field or people would just buy a computer if they wanted to do upgrades, so I'm fine with this. IMO

10 RepliesEdited by Rayray43: 4/16/2016 11:45:46 AMWhat in the -blam!-? How is this a bad thing? Seriously give me one good explanation on why this is a problem
-
3 RepliesEdited by SeneschalGrigori: 4/15/2016 7:25:51 PMDon't care. It's just going to be able to play 4k videos. (Not video GAMES, Videos)
-
Well, it won't affect how people play. It is only for 4k, right? So it does not matter.
-
1 ReplyXbox 1.5? Did they announce this? Because last thing I saw about it they said they weren't releasing another Xbox till it would be another generation, not just a slight improvement.
-
They're not going to change much at all, and it'll just make it more difficult for developers to optimize for 2 more systems.
-
1 ReplyI'm surprised there are going to be people buying one of these just to have 4K gameplay. What a waste of money.
-
8 RepliesBetter specs are a bad thing?

It's great if I get some trade in credit or some shit for my old ones

I doubt it would be even considered by fans.

In theory, really good idea. In practice, probably not going to go well.
