Come on Bungie. I played challenge mode yesterday 3 times with different groups of randos ranging from 315-320. It took each group about the same amount of time and we reached around 30,000 as our score each time. Two out of the three fireteams didn't communicate at all (no mics) and the third group barely talked unless it was joking around.
There is no reason why this extremely easy content doesn't have matchmaking.
The only thing people need to know is that:
1. You need about 5000-6000 score by the end of the first round.
2. You need 15000-16000 score by the end of the second round
3. You need 30,000 by the end of the third round.
4. Each time you complete a wave shoot the boss.
5. Shoot the boss as much as you can until they have a sliver of health and then really try shooting for points and ignore the boss until you reach your goal (or until Variks start subtracting points).
Edit: I just completed my 10th CoE run. All with mostly different people ranging from a 310 squeaker to a 322 master. Little to no communication at all. It is not needed. Matchmaking should be added to just this endgame activity.
Edit 2: Lots of you point out that if there is matchmaking then there will be AFK players. Again, you do not have to use matchmaking. I am proposing that it is optional. It will still be in your best interest to play with friends or look on LFG. This is just for people who maybe can't find anyone to play with. It at least gives them a chance to play the game they paid for.
Edit 3: I would also like to note that I have yet to wipe on any of the 10 CoE runs I have done. 30 bosses with no wiping. Heck, I've only died a few times as well.
I hope Bungie doesn't look at this and go, "Oh, it's too easy. Alright then. We're nerfing points earned and adding more difficult modifiers." Just don't do it Bungie. It's nice to have easy content.
Final Edit: (sorry for the wall of text)
I also noticed that a lot of you mention the fact that, "oh, I can solo it so it doesn't need matchmaking." That doesn't even make any sense. How would adding optional matchmaking to CoE negatively affect anyone who doesn't decide to use it? What does soloing have to do with anything?

Think there should definitely be an option. Let the people who want to go in with friends and no extras have no matchmaking for missing spots, but for the people who don't want to go to a website and find some random to play with match make. Btw, I know you can solo this. But raids after your first time through it's easy to know what everyone is doing and don't need to be on mics to co-ordinate.

2 RepliesI play solo alot, or only have a few other gaurdians to play with regularly and hate having to go to an external site for LFG. About half the community wants match making. About half the community doesnt want match making. GIVE PEOPLE THE OPTION! Start strike / raid / nightfall / POE, get a prompt do you want to be matchmade? yes or no. No - in you go in your current fire team state. Yes - initiate usual match making protocals until fireteam is full. How hard to code would that be bungie? Seriously Deej and Cozmo, pass this on at the next round table of community wants... #deej #cozmo

Never gonna happen no matter how many petitions, Bungie are against matchmaking, and they don't give a shit about anybody's problems getting a team. 3rd party websites are the way forward for gaming.

I have like 70 friends and always have at least 10 on and playing destiny never find it difficult for Poe maybe a raid but not poe
-
This is a petition to stop people asking for petitions to petition on certain things in the game.... . Oh wait...... Shit this is now a petition..... What have I done.....
-
I agree.

Anyone else loving mida for precision kills?

2 RepliesSigned
Im on PS4. If you are to, could you run it with me? Im 313 light and have yet to do it. Psn: Der_Llama
Maybe, when they are sure that they have got you to get your friends and their friends and all the other friends in the world to purchase the game. Then and only then will everything possibly include matchmaking.
-
I got feeling that it will change every week by different mods like it did in PoE.
-
Yeah.
-
I totally agree. We need match making on level 42 poe. Signed.
-
There is no reason why challenge of the elders should not have optional matchmaking, said it before it came out and I'm still saying it. Signed.
-
Only if you have the option to solo it as well..... I enjoy the challenge to be honest.
-
Bump. Signed.
-
Seriously some people have beaten it in 3 mins... 3 mins!!!!! I repeat!!! 3 fukin mins!!!!! It's like a challenge for the elderly not challenge of elders. This should have matchmaking. Literally anyone they matched me with couldn't stop me from beating it. I don't care if he tried to sabotage the whole time I would still beat it.
-
Soloed it, made two runs and had over 91k
-
I agree, it needs it. So easy no mic duh
-
Bump and signed
-
I agree it should be matchmaking. However, keep in mind the small arms modifier this week. Makes it more easy, imo. Curious to see what other modifiers they have in store for us. But yes, it should be matchmaking

Signed & bumped
-
Why not soloing it?
-
Bumping with some sugar bumps.

1 ReplyBump. As far as I'm concerned, if Bungie can't be bothered to provide the tools to play the game as intended then I can't be bothered to play it.

1 ReplyNo matchmaking option is the ONLY reason I stopped playing Destiny even though I liked it a lot, but I find it annoying having to go to my laptop/cell phone to look for other strangers that I can easily do by selecting an option to match with others within the game. Case in point, a recent game that I've been playing a lot lately and that I enjoy without the frustration of not having matchmaking, is The Division, I've matched with strangers with mic, no mic, who know what to do and even don't know what to do... but I still enjoy the experience, without having to go to a third party to find others that want to do the same activity as I. P.S. I only mentioned The Division as an example, because is the only game I'm currently playing that I can draw a comparison in relation to the current topic.
