I disagree with fusions needing skill
I am crap at pvp and use a fusion as my special most of the time because I am crap at sniping and die before I get close enough to use a shotgun
I love fusion rifles and often get more kills with them in a game than with a primary

You have very unilateral thinking. Do you think that the only people with skill are people with snipers? No. You suck at sniping, so you look for what weapon matches your tastes. Downplaying yourself and saying a weapon doesn't require skill because you are good with it doesn't make it right. I suck at sniping and I have more fusion kills then any other weapon types. I've been in lobbies where people tried to emulate my play-style. They couldn't do it. They couldn't do it because it requires a skill set that they have not yet attained. Fusion rifles require great awareness of your surroundings to use effectively. You need to understand how far your target is, how fast your target is moving, how long to stay in cover to charge your weapon, and then you need to put that knowledge together in order to keep your aim where it needs to be in order to land the full burst. You need to keep constant mobility as to keep shotguners from closing the distance. You need to have a good reaction time in order to snip that last bit of damage off of injured enemies with your primary. If you still don't feel that the weapon takes some margin of skill then I will gladly share a few more points. ~Praise the Sun

Noted Actually, I think most snipers and shotgunners are unskilled as well (there are some exceptions) as it doesn't take a lot of skill to shotgun someone in the back at point blank range or use aim assist from half way across the map when someone runs past where your hard scoping. I just don't have the reflexes to use those. Fusion rifles need planning not reflexes and that suits me better
