In year one, Destiny's competitive multiplayer was plagued with the consistent use of exotic hand cannons and shotguns. As The Taken King DLC rolled around the corner, we were promised a bevy of new weapons (coupled with a nerf to the old ones) in order to mend the broken state of The Crucible. Although many of those year one issues now cease to exist, there's still one that ails us. Weapon diversity... or should I say, the lack thereof. I know what you're thinking... "How dare he! The MIDA takes a skilled hand and it's time-to-kill is nowhere near to that of The Last Word in year one. It's not overpowered." And to be honest, I agree with you. The MIDA is not an "overpowered" weapon. But what aggravates me is not the effectiveness of the weapon. It is the fact that the MIDA currently accounts for [b]15% of primary kills in the Trials of Osiris[/b]. Don't get me wrong, MIDA isn't the only overused weapon. After all, the 1000 Yard Stare stacks up at roughly 25% of Trials special kills, and although I believe this needs attention as well, the special ammo regulations have helped to a minor extent. When year two commenced, I was convinced that weapon diversity was finally going to be evident in Destiny, and even though there's an obvious improvement from the first year, it's far from perfect. Now maybe I'm wrong... (and I can accept that), maybe the lack of a META in a game such as this one isn't possible. I'd really love to hear all of your suggestions and/or corrections in regards to the statements I've made.
