I've only recently leveled up my warlock, and so far the only subclass I've maxed out is sunsinger (based on my raid team's recommendations). It's unclear to me how to use this super in crucible. I know I should fling firebolt grenades with viking funeral- but what about while I'm waiting for recharge? Should I be rushing with a shotgun? Trying to melee like a crazy person? Just wondering how to effectively utilize this super....
edit: a week ago when I posted asking for help with my titan (best exotic) I edited that titans must be the most helpful class around- but the volume and quality of responses from warlocks this week has been incredible! Thanks Warlocks!!
edit2: Damn there are a lot of helpful warlocks out there! Got even more comments than on my titan post last week. Good thing I was at work so I had time to reply to comments!

12 RepliesWith Sunsingers, it's on your playstyle. If you're aggressive, be everyone else. If you're want to support, use Song of Flame, Solar Wind, and Sunburst. If going defensively, try maxing out Armor/Recovery with Radiant Skin. Grenade Choice: Firebolt: About 99% of Sunsingers use this grenade with Touch of Flame and Viking Funeral. While that's an optimal choice, throwing a regular, vanilla Fireball should so about 85 damage, then a body shot from a 1000 Yard or Black Spindle will finish them off. If you want to have fun and not be sweaty, use Angle of Light or Gift of the Sun. Solar Grenade: People really underestimate these grenades, especially with Touch of Flame and Viking Funeral. Throwing one near or at an enemy will suffer through 19 base damage when near a Solar Grenade with two ticks of 7 damage (14 DoTs per second). In Trials or any 3v3 mode, throwing one of these next to a revive provides territory control and if they get the res, both the reviver and the revived will have made a huge mistake. Fusion Grenade: Aim, stick, dead. Melee Options: Flame Shield: Very useful but overused. If you melee someone that has low armor while you have Touch of Flame/Viking Funeral, you will kill them as the base melee damage and the DoT stacks. Solar Wind: Very underestimated. In some maps, you can push people off the edges of maps or make them take collateral damage if you push them towards a wall, especially if you have a melee charge with them jumping, they'll fly back so you and your teammates can escape quickly and safely. Brimstone: Very underestimated also, but even more than Solar Wind. When compared to Bloom on Voidwalkers, this is a waste of a slot, especially since Brimstone only works on melees and it has to be the killing blow. Super (Radiance) Song of Flame: Very underutilized and underestimated. If you've ever been in Mayhem Clash or Rumble, activating this will hmake your teammates throw grenades, throwing knives, smokes, etc. impressively fast. Mainly for support, but it is underutilized. Radiant Skin: Really for an offensive, headstrong Sunsinger. Reduced damage across the board making it great for 6v6 playlists. Fireborn: Arguably the must have perk for anything in Destiny in PvE and 3v3 PvP. If you don't have it on during Skirmish, Salvage, or Trials, you're either really ballsy or dumb. The best way to use Fireborn is when no one is watching your body. Fireborn can turn the tide of the battle instantly. The reason to use it when no one is watching your body is because a headshot from a 1000 Yard or Black Spindle will shut you down immediately, causing the waste of a super. A Full Auto Shotgun or Conspiracy Theory-D will shut you down also is someone is over your body. It's highly risk/reward. Passive Perks (All): Radiant Will: Personally, I love using this when I'm not doing Trials or 3v3 Crucible. Pair up Radiant Will with Radiant Skin, you should have your super for a while, also throwing a shit ton of grenades. Touch of Flame/Viking Funeral: Excellent perks with all grenades, especially it's known for to be paired up with Firebolts. Angle of Light: A very fun ability that can also catch people off guard. Just remember you're an easy target since this ability only works in the air. Sunburst: It's underrated, but for a good reason. Compared to the other skills in that same column (Radiant Will and Viking Funeral), it's lackluster, having the same problem as Brimstone where it requires a killing blow. Gift of the Sun: If you're looking for pure fun, use this. Having double of any grenade is amazing. Some exotics already offer double grenades for Sunsingers such as Starefire Protocol and Year 2 Sunbreakers. Using one of these exotics can give you more options to utilize such as Touch of Flame or Angle of Light. Exotic Options: Claws of Ahmakhara: Having this alone can make a lot of options viable while buffing certain perks such as Brimstone and Sunburst. Two Flame Shields, Two Solar Winds, Two Brimstones. An excellent exotic. Starefire Protocol: Grants an additional Fusion Grenade. When using this, you're more likely want to use Angle of Light. If you get collaterals with the fusion grenade, use Touch of Flame. Heart of the Praxic Fire: My favorite exotic for Sunsingers. With Tier 5 Discipline and Strength, you'll be throwing grenades and one shot people all around the map, plus an increase to Agility as this exotic reduce the cooldown of both your melee and grenade during Radiance. THE STAG: If you're the one to die last during 3v3 playlist, being the last one standing on the fireteam with Tier 5 Intellect will get your super extremely fast. Staying alive while circling around the map to gain your super is worth it for all subclasses, Voidwalker or Stormcaller. Purifier Robes: If you're going to self res while someone is watching you, this is your best bet as when you use Fireborn, you'll blind enemies around you. Sunbreakers: In Year 2, Sunbreakers give your Solar Grenades a longer lasting effect while gaining an addition Solar grenade charge. With this basically granting you Gift of the Sun, you can have Touch of Flame/Viking Funeral, granting extreme territory control. If someone dares to cross by foot, they get punished. Alchemist Raniment: People say that granting bonus melee and grenade energy while your super is full is a waste of an exotic, but think of it this way. You're not always going to have your super up for twelve minutes not using it. Pair up this armor piece with an infusion helmet (Grants healt upon absorbing an orb of light), you have a full proof build where orbs will benefit you no matter what. In Trials, since it's round based, orbs disappear per round basis. In 3v3 playlist such as Skirmish or Salvage, it's highly unlikely you'll go unbroken. Even if you do survive that long, the Mercy Rule should activate. Please consider using this exotic. Light Beyond Nemesis: Faster revive time. You might end up using this is no one else is running fast res in 3v3 matches or if you like to look like a back scratcher. Apotheosis Veil: Don't use it when using Fireborn, but when using Radiant Skin or Song of Flame, it's a good idea to get out of situations in a pinch. While not out yet, look into Transversive Steps and Ophidian Aspect. Whatever you do, don't run these exotics when using Sunsinger: Nothing Manacles, Obsidian Mind, The Impossible Machines, Astrocyte Verse, and the Skull of Dire Ahmakhara. While I wouldn't recommend it personally, look at The Ram and Voidfang Vestments.

1 ReplyRadiant skin No self Rez bullshit here. Make a push with grenades, jump around and you are almost impossible to shut down. Get the free overshield and you're a god.
-
3 RepliesI like to use self res in free for all at heavy drops. If I go down, I can self res and regain control and get heavy.

2 RepliesEdited by Aeon Marine: 3/31/2016 5:11:53 PMI don't PvP with Warlocks but I have a very powerful and "Tanky" build for PvE. If you're interested, I'll share. I don't see enough people using my build anyway.

i tend to stick with RB+LB, but really whatever floats your boat

2 RepliesI like to run song of flames on team matches. Pretty sick during mayhem matches. Solar or fusion gernade + ToF and VF is better than firebolt with same. Don't be that guy that runs fireborn in crucible. Only good to reverse a trials loss, clutch a control point, or a salvage save. brimstone stacks with sunburst. lots of weak enemies? tons of orbs with claws. i have personally seen but never done it myself. you can push away an incoming fist of havoc with solar wind. glide can do mini twilight dodges. jump at them, glide sideways to completely shift momentum. lets you dodge fusion rifles and shotguns though shotguns will have another bead on you pretty quick so either run or finish them quick. Shotgun or fusion rifles + a corner + angel of light can net you a lot of kills from people running around a corner and shooting empty space below you then getting headshot as you hover safely above. Just a few quick tips.

Sit an it an use Tlaloc. Or do it on Storm and use pulsewave instead of transcendence in 3v3 with storm grenade

5 RepliesEdited by Zisis: 3/31/2016 2:25:25 PMBrb gonna check my warlock loadout... Edit: Star fire protocol, double fusion grenades Radiant Skin with Max agility Last Word/MIDA Sniper/Sidearm Personally I prefer MIDA/sidearm... But if you want to be a real killer... Run Tlaloc and keep your super/Double fusion

In small tactics games. I find it useful to use offensively.

2 RepliesDepends on the match... 3v3, Trials, or Crimson Doubles: radiant skin, self res, fusion grenades, max armor, angel of light or double fusion grenade. Try to get increased solar armor and use The Ram, use Mida, a good shotgun or sniper and Qullims Terminus. 6v6: radiant skin, radiance allows you to take more damage instead of self res, viking funeral, all grenades burn. Try to get increased solar armor and use The Ram, use Mida, a good shotgun or sniper and Qullims Terminus. Sometimes I run the first build in 6v6. I usually have a 2.0 or 3.0 KD ratio

3 RepliesGeneral tip for sunsinger is equip rocket launcher/ hmg pop radiance and blast away with your heavy, it'll give LOADS of orbs. Pvp seems to be self res, flame barrier melee and solar grenades with viking funeral Personally I never use sunsinger in pvp, I mainly use voidwalker. But play about til you find a setup that you like and stick to it.

2 RepliesFor pvp try building a pushing load out and once the update hits get a pair of sunbreakers. Solar grenades are better than firebolts but require more skill to use
-
1 ReplyOnly use it when u see a sniper aiming at u and 2 guys with a shotgun on your orb.

I like the perk that charges my friends abilities. I think it's song of light. -
3 RepliesJust remember you have guns. Most people pop radiance and totally forget they can shoot. But definitely utilize those abilities, remember your not invincible, and you'll be great :)

6 RepliesEdited by JFT_91_LiVE: 3/31/2016 7:12:06 AMI run radiant skin w/ apotheosis veil, mida and shotgun, double fusions. I usually hold on to my super until heavy spawns or if I'm in trouble to get my health back. Once I pop my super, I just shotgun melee everything around me. I also run radiant will for longer radiance.

1 ReplyEdited by Ruqratt: 3/31/2016 1:34:28 PMPersonally I like to call it the Kamikaze Strat, basically play reckless on about the final or second to last round so like 3-1 or 4-0, rush the hell out of the enemy and try to take one or two out. Just rush and try to kill as many as possible and die or do a full wipe on them. If they happen to pick you off immediately self-res. I've found 80% of the time this will catch people off guard and make it an easy way to wipe them. I've done this all the time. Its most effective with Purifier Robes (Thank god they're making a Y2 return). For right now I suggest double fusion grenades and a good primary such as Grasp of Malok archetype pulse rifles or Doctrine archetype autorifles (Doctrine of Passing/Armenius-D). As a bonus you could combo this with your team in Elimination/Trials of Osiris, you rush recklessly and then have them pull up not too far behind and have them rush in on the go of your self-res. :) Edit: Don't ever forget about the one-hit melee that you can combo into an overshield with flame shield. I also suggest as people have stated a Max Discipline/Intellect build but Discipline/Strength can work if your a good killwhore for your team. BTW Fusion grenades are basically the main way to go. Viking-Bolts are good but double fusion grenades and even better with the insane stick radius and the fact you can run 2 of them for free. If you need any advice for your warlock feel free to shoot me a PM, I've been playing warlock since day one and know how to run one great in PVP.
Have fun trying it though, a very high risk high reward play style for radiance.
5 RepliesStrategy wise in pvp, you don't want to initiate your super when there are multiple enemies nearby with a direct line of fire to you. It's good to use on multiple enemies when you can bum rush them though. It's useful when you want to defend a heavy that is about to come available or if you are very near capping a zone the enemy is closing in. It really depends though on how you set up your sunsinger for how you want to use radiance. I like already having grenade or double grenades already fully charged before using radiance. I use them before starting my super when I can because of the super fast recharge.

3 RepliesEdited by Peaches: 3/31/2016 1:28:10 PMDon't use self-res all willy nilly, if it's Elimination only use it when everyone is down. In Raids and Nightfalls it can be really useful for a second chance. But don't get too reckless.
-
how to pvp sunsinger step 1: switch to voidwalker step 2:???? step 3: profit lmao jk kid radiant skin with apotheosis veil or HoPF works well focus on str/ dis since the super corresponds to the players stats.

Radiant skin imo, doesn't require you to am yay close to teammates and isn't as situational as self Rez. Better to get more kills and die once then get the same kills and die twice imo
