For the past couple of months, I've been trying to think of a way to logically bring the year 1 armour to year 2. I've always liked the way specific armor from year 1 looks, and would want the item back not for the benefits it has, but for the sheer enjoyment I get from how cool/funny it looks. Some examples would be the Crota's End hunter helmet, the Vault of Glass titan chest piece, etc., etc. However, every time I thought of a solution to bring these items into year 2, I got stuck. I wanted a system where you could infuse year 2 gear into them, then randomize any perks that possibly cause inbalance, and it seemed like an idea that could work. However, creating a system that randomizes specific unbalanced perks on all year 1 armor seemed like a tall order for the live update team, so I decided to think of another alternative. I decided to scrounge around and found the perfect example of a system that could work right under my nose: Keepsake Keys. The idea is basically stolen from Runescape, as that is an MMO I play a lot, and is a game with a huge focus on player customization. So much so, that in late 2012, they added an item called the keepsake key. The idea of the keepsake key is as simple as most cosmetic override systems go. You purchase a keepsake key, you sacrifice a piece of gear to the key, and that item becomes a cosmetic override that you can enable or disable at will from the character settings menu. Each slot of the character can hold multiple keepsake keys, meaning you can have a large, nearly unlimited amount of mix and match options to make your character completely unique. Not only that, but it has no adverse effects on gameplay. Your adventurers gear still acts the same way, just looks like the gear that you choose to keepsake in that slot. Now while I don't think it would be the easiest system, I think its the best option to a transmog/cosmetic override system that Destiny can provide. And if not, then maybe consider it for Destiny 2. :)

Bump for transmog!

I'd like to see Destiny implement a proper transmog system.

Isn't a bad idea, concept is used in the Korean elsword and DC universe if I remember correctly. ...
