Because what is the point of playing with the same guns in a game that offers so many weapons? Thorn, last word, mida are all weapons that should readjusted to make the time to kill a little higher. Everything should be at 1 sec TTK the game is almost balanced if those 3 weapons are adjusted. The doctrine maybe needs just the slightest tweak if that knowing how bungie is with nerds. I feel that the TTK for doctrine might be a little under 1. Anyway my point is that it's fun to use other weapons like a fusion rifle and not have the other -blam!- being a try hard with a thorn and matador with knee pads, rifled barrel and range finder. I have a dream that all weapons in destiny could be used equally and be used to fit your play style.
