I know the game theorist said the enegery swords were meant to lock an opposing sword, but all you would have to do is turn off the saber if it's locked. Plus lightsabers are usually wielded with 2 hands meaning stronger control and grip, as a opposed to the energy sword that can only be held with one hand. So even if the lightsaber was locked the user has more strength behind it.
If you time it just before the energy sword is "flicked" you can throw off the user because he'd use extra strength to overcome the lightsaber user's strength and turn it back on. Of course the timing would have to be impeccable and it certainly wouldn't be a guarantee.
But the lightsaber is just much more versatile overall.
