Throughout the grimoire the darkness has been called the the final shape, the queen of final shapes, that which inhabits it's petitioners, a flower, and the flower eater. I'm especially interested in the flowers part of this as I feel it may produce more insight on the nature of shapes. I'm under the impression that a flower is a term for a group of shapes that forms a larger shape. (such as a code of ethics (or brutality) consisting of many rules and followers, or an entire civilization consisting of many individual lives with their own distinct but joined together shapes) There is a geometric pattern called the flower of life that consists of many overlapping circles in a flower like shape. It makes sense that a flower might then be a set of shapes organized in a certain way. In Ghost fragment: Old Russia 2 a colony ship says that it dream of planting flowers and refers to it's passengers as seeds before apologizing for speaking poetically. The colony ship wants to create flowers using people organized in a society. The darkness itself is also a flower but it also eats (or destroys and absorbs the power from) other flowers. Flowers such as entire species of aliens, and the code of ethics known as the sky that the traveller spreads around wishing for universal prosperity and kindness. This is why I think when shapes come together to form a larger distinct shape they become a flower.
