I want to know what the community thinks. I personally believe it doesn't. (I snipe, shotgun, fusion, etc.)

Sniping does take skill. The problem is, once you've mastered that skill (pre aiming, drag scoping, etc) that's basically it. And it's very hard to challenge someone who is decent with a 1 hit kill weapon.

4 Repliesyes. sniping takes skill. whatever this "let's sit down and hardscope a corridor, never moving and never pulling out a primary weapon, killing people from 2 feet away" bullshit we are playing in now is not "sniping"
-
No because everyone uses 1000 yard stare
-
4 RepliesHeadshots (especially quick scopes) are skill. Bodyshot primary/ double bodyshot/ bodyshot melee/ bodyshot grenade is the easiest thing to do in the game. It's very black and white

Edited by Sub2ndDraw: 3/20/2016 7:02:12 PMObviously doesnt take much skill to hardscope but it takes skill to push with a sniper. Obviously camping with any gun takes no skill, just look at most shotgun users, camping in rooms crouching the entire game to hit a hitbox that covers your entire body. I ONLY run shotgun when i feel my aim is off, its hard to miss with a dot that takes up half your screen ^.^

Define skill. Breathing takes skill. Does that make it difficult? No. Is sniping difficult? Depends on who you are playing against. Of course it's easy to snipe blueberries. That's why you see them come to the forums to complain. Against players with thumbs, it's not exactly a walk in the park.
-
Yes. I have struggled with my aim for a while, but am slowly getting better. Hardscoping is annoying, but aggressive sniping is pretty damn hard. You need very good knowledge of positioning to pull it off.
-
It takes no skill at all
-
Yeah hiding across a map and using destiny epic aim assist and huge hit box takes skill
-
NO HAHA

1 ReplyI PVP it can take some degree of skill to line up a good shot
-
5 RepliesDude it does not take skill. If you want a game where sniping takes skill try Battlefield. If you want a game that's a bit easier to snipe play COD. Even less skill is Halo. But out of every fps I've ever played Destiny is the easiest to get kills with a sniper. It's like firing a tank round out of a regular rifle. You just have to hit close to their head for it to count.
-
To say it takes 0, ZERO, skill is obviously not the case. I can't equip sniper and just fire shots to get kills. Body shots in sniping doesn't take as much skill as head shots do. The player still has to aim. AA slows down reticle speed while moving across the body. That could use a SLIGHT reduction IMO....like .04% :p
-
9 RepliesIt takes skill to an extent Body shots aren't skill, especially when higher impact snipes take you down to nearly no health Aim assist needs to be lowered. Drag scoping is a little too easy in this game. Hard scoping isn't skilled either and tons of people are hard scoping corners or head glitching heavily in this weeks trials map especially

Edited by InfestedCyborg: 3/20/2016 1:19:04 PMI'm sorry but destiny sniping does not take skill.

4 RepliesEdited by TzDoc: 3/19/2016 10:42:16 PMDepends. Consistently landing head shots, yes. Especially in sweaty matches against aggressive thorn shotty. But no as well. A lot of people go for body shots and switch to their primary, ie blade dancers like krafty using QuickDraw. I'm worried once those QuickDraw warlock gloves come out everyone in competitive will switch to Sunsingers If they haven't already. But I digress. Shotties have been nerfed to a good place but snipers remain almost untouched. Aim assist isn't the issue, it's body shot damage. You literally have a faster ttk double bodying than most primaries. We are in the age where primary ttk has been nerfed too hard and you are disadvantaged for not using special. My 2 cents Edit; they need a little flinch too for crying out loud. If I land a burst of high cal rounds or 10 doctrine bullets to their head, they shouldnt be able to consistently dome me. -a sniper

2 RepliesBeing good at anything takes skill. Unless you have a hidden hand weylorans...
-
2 RepliesGo play battlefield and snipe there then snipe on destiny. Then you can tell me which of the two is harder to do.
-
Not one bit.
-
Easy to use... Hard to master.

3 RepliesEdited by ImDaBeInEr: 3/20/2016 6:49:18 AMI shotgun and snipe But if a fusion gets thrown at me well I'll try it if not Then shard But sniping if more satisfying to me I can't say fusion rifles since it's the same range as a shotgun and target as a shotgun But fusion are still satisfying to use lol
-
For me it really depends on the scope and personally I think it depends on the player. I use my sniper only, except it's just not my game and I miss my shots. But otherwise having its pretty middle. You can use it at close range. Melee and shot helps
-
What takes skill is out sniping other snipers imo
-
3 RepliesIf 10/10 of your sniper kills are headshots, you're good. If 1/10 of your sniper kills are headshots, not so much.
-
For the most part, yes they do take some skill, especially on moving targets. But if your just picking off snipers then no
