Edit: Sorry if you don't know anything about the "competitive" community this won't make much sense to you.
I, before I knew anything, used to think Destiny sweats (games where two groups of players purposefully match against each other and play under certain rule sets) were fun and a good way to play Destiny competitively until I decided to look into it further.
Destiny first off can never be a competitive game until Bungie fixes their $hIt. (We all know what I'm talking about)
Ok so the "rules" of a Sweat may just be the most ineffective way I've ever seen for players to try to balance an unbalanced game. Remember the age of the Thorn and Last Word? Well that's basically the same thing that's going on now except they aren't as effective as weapons. Now you would think it would be common sense to exclude players from using these weapons as they have an inherent advantage over other weapons and if you don't use them you would be at a disadvantage. But no, instead these "top tier" players ban weapons such as class specific exotics and pocket infinity. Pocket infinity hasn't been good since before the Dark Below! What? You might say, "How does that make sense." I agree it doesn't. These "top tier" players aren't responsible for the unbalanced game that is Destiny, but if they want to be taken seriously as a competitive community they should change these terrible rules. The current rules are made to the advantage of the "top tier" players.
Lastly the "top tier" players are straight up harsh and in some ways mean to others who may not be as good. I know that being nice isn't a qualification for being "top tier", but based on the people I've talked to about the "sweaty" community (not gonna list any names) if you don't use the current meta you are ridiculed and called a fool by those who do. I was in a "sweaty" player's stream by the name of iAnbu (now I'm not saying anything about his skill or whatnot) and the best team in Germany challenged him and Luminosity to a sweat. Now Anbu and Lumi DON'T HAVE to take this team up on their offer OF COURSE, but the statements they made about the team were straight insulting! I distinctly remember Lumi saying, "the best team in Germany? More like the only team in Germany." I think this statement stands for itself when I say these so called "top tier" players need to get off their high horse.
Now I know not all "sweaty" players have this attitude of being superior, but this doesn't mean that their rules shouldn't be revised to be fair for all players and their playstyles.
Peace out,
~HyperJAZ
Edit: I don't mind if that's the way those players like to play. I was only suggesting that when the rules are as unbalanced as they are, nothing can be said about the player's skills because the game isn't competitive.
Edit: Funny seeing all the fanboys in here defending their idols lol.
Edit: Seems like there are split opinions between reliable and "sweaty" sources on this post. Some say they completely agree and back it up with good a good argument and others disagree with equally good arguments. I just want everyone to know I didn't write this post because I'm blaming the game for my skill level and I know I can play sweats under my rules. But that wasn't what this post was about. It was about the widely accepted rules and the community that plays under them and if you don't understand that don't try to make this post about me when that wasn't the purpose of the post.

Last word exists so that snipers can be used competitively.

The rules are slowly changing like, eyasluna is now more widely used then thorn shottys have always been the meta in t1 sweats and a lot of good players are arrogant yes but they are also constantly playing and beating these top players. Saltiness is always gonna be a thing everyone gets salty and that's fine as long as you're not blaming the weapons that kill you, sweats are really based on skill. Just because someone is using thorn doesn't mean they're good with it I see kids using thorn in pubs all the time getting murked lol

Hey Hey , Kungfuu here. I get where you're coming from, especially when it comes to these "top tier" players being quite mean, I've heard so much about the Destiny community being so fantastic and friendly and yet when I pop into these top Destiny streamers channels, they seem to be complete douche bags, not all of course but on many occasions they quite simply disrespect and insult other players who beat them, I've even heard them inviting people in just to verbally abuse them which is just plain salty bullying. Any way, that's my addition to this post. Farewell.

I see what you are saying and I agree and usually when I do sweats with someone I try and get them to maybe go like no exotic weapons or no land and stuff I hardly do the sweats you speak of and its always fun when I don't do exotic handconnons

Tl;dr?

One thing I agree with is the class exclusive ban is completely absurd. I really wanted to use still piercer but I'm basically forced to not utilize it because I don't want to practice somethings that's actively restricted. Tlaloc? Really? It's equal to Mida in the best hands at the COST of a super. The other exclusives aren't even discussed. Meanwhile they could be banning year 1 items and side arm exchange, and you'd have the most balanced gameplay imaginable.

Sweats and Try Hards are stupid words...

I was expecting comments of support, but all I see is "GG scrub". I feel the same way, though

Destiny and the community is a joke

1 ReplySweats? Wow that is dumb!

12 RepliesI've said it before in a video, I like that there are gamers so passionate about pvp to organize games, but the rules are silly. Top tier players with bad attitudes will lose to hidden bosses like me eventually. (Hidden boss means only threatening when trying, bc I'm generally pretty terrible) I used to be like them until I would lose to players that were on another level entirely. Once you catch up to players of that skill level it is nearly impossible not to realize how stupid the pvp mechanics are and how easy they are to exploit. the latest person to beat me utterly one sided was Giggle Monstar in Crimson dubs. It was my first game of cd ever so I had no idea how powerful the buff was. It was humbling to say the least, bc I could beat his clan in year one half of the time. Moral of the story? You are not the best no matter how much "sweaties" you play. There will always be someone better

4 RepliesEdited by HoneyBadgerRage: 3/17/2016 4:09:10 PMSweats are definitely a joke. Better I always say " fu I'm good" when I get invited haha gtfoh with your thorn party crasher, shadestep spamming asswipes hahaha

4 RepliesWho are the geniuses who say no exotics? So we're left with only legendary weapons... So basically whoever got blessed by rngesus with the god rolls will benefit..
-
2 RepliesIm pretty average at pvp so my opinion don't have a lot of weight, but I would say that the top trials players are the best. Only because when you step in a competitive lawless game type like trials and still wreck it's awesome. Only when there are no rules and you fight against everything should you then be judged.
-
3 RepliesIt's funny how mad people get when they got beat by someone better than them. Get over it. You'll never improve if you blame the weapons/tactics instead of yourself.

5 Repliesthis post shows one thing. you suck

6 Replies"Max armor titans banned" What a joke lol

Edited by Stoker: 3/17/2016 8:46:37 PMThe problem is that Destiny isn't supposed to be competitive, PvP should be just an extra but it's easier to develop content for PvP than for PvE, this is a problem because Destiny should be focused on PvE, it's core is designed for PvE

3 RepliesA lot of the top 200 players are like that, not all of them though. Some think they're invincible and will talk crap about you on stream only to get 5-0 in trials. They then blame it on the guy they were carrying lol

5 RepliesSo I played my first ever sweats last night and my team basically just controlled outside heavy area on anomaly and I was using Mida and sidearm. We kept outside control almost all game and won by 2000. The team we played lost their minds because they were shot gunning with last words and I was able to keep them away efficiently. They said we were cheating after the game and got super salty. My question is, did we do anything wrong? Sweats usually involve a lot of pushes but we were able to keep them at bay by controlling a specific area so why not play that way? My friends and I all have more passive play styles so we played to our strengths. What are your opinions because I feel like what we did was totally fine. Nothing says you have to play super aggressive right?

Non-Trials crucible gameplay is a -blam!-ing joke. I got bounced from game to game of clash yesterday all entering mid match typically hearing (heavy ammo available) right before I was about to land in. Played a game of rift where no one was partied up on my team against a team of 6 on the other team. Apparently that team didn't know it was rift because they were just spawn killing us with heavy and supers while the rift ball sat there untouched. Freelance would be great if I didn't have to get a rift win for a bounty... Played an elimination game where my two teammates both quit after dying 10 seconds into the 1-2 round. Was able to get down 2 of the 3 but then died. The enemy proceed to rush 3 strong on my heavy (again partied up) and kill me before it even spawned and spent the next two round using their supers on me, which of course concluded with teabagging. All in all its not a fun experience. Trials is great because you are teamed up with 2 other people and you have communication (most of the time) and strategy. Random games where everyone is going sweaty as -blam!- is not worth the time wasted.

2 RepliesThe FitnessGram™ Pacer Test is a multistage aerobic capacity test that progressively gets more difficult as it continues. The 20 meter pacer test will begin in 30 seconds. Line up at the start. The running speed starts slowly, but gets faster each minute after you hear this signal. [beep] A single lap should be completed each time you hear this sound. [ding] Remember to run in a straight line, and run as long as possible. The second time you fail to complete a lap before the sound, your test is over. The test will begin on the word start. On your mark, get ready, start.

14 RepliesAs far as "wanting to stay top tier so they don't let many one else in". That's ridiculous. Playing European teams is generally a terrible experience because of lag and hit registration. It's not that people "want to stay top tier". They want to play other players who are recognized as good players. You don't get satisfaction out of beating somebody who you have never heard of. Rule for pocket infinity was set forth 13 months ago.
