Why am I still forced to use auto-aim? It seriously eats me inside. I've been playing FPS since they were invented and 1) Have always hated auto-aim 2) Have never been FORCED to use it.
The number of times I'll have a perfect shot lined up just to have my reticle be like "SQUIRRIL!" is sickening. It has made me quit Destiny more times than I can count. You want me to talk to you in lore-based role-playing language? When did they mention guardians not being able to control their own arms while holding guns? Where in the lore are guardians incapable of aiming their own guns so some outside force does it for them? Is it the Traveler? Is he messing up my shots? PLEASE make it an option in Destiny 2, at the VERY least.
Would it hurt someone to let us turn it off? Come on, seriously? I don't care if you can't make shots without it, leave it on. But give me a choice.

3 RepliesI believe all console games have a degree of aim assist for they lack the precision of the mouse on a PC. However I agree with you as to the fact that it is a dominating factor in the gameplay and needs to be reduced down to almost nothing like other console games. I too have experienced a sniper battle to which I have lost to many times for a gaurdian or mob will run in between me and my intended target and pull my reticule away like a magnet. This is a ridiculous mechanic that needs some serious rework. But knowing Bungie what we want is not what we are going to get. They have more important things to worry about like touring six month old content over twitch.
-
Or even turn it down a bit
-
I would reduce it for snipers. maybe low/mid 20's? Its such a pain when 2 targets are close together and aim assist actually works against you in trying to focus in on first one, then the other target and often it causes you to miss.
-
I hate aim assist wish I could disable it completely tbh
-
No one would be able to hit anything. Literally every single console shooter has this; only PC games have the "off option," because tossing all fanboy BS aside, a mouse and KB is far more precise than analog sticks will ever be. If you want to try it, run around on patrol in a fireteam of three and try shooting each other (AA is off on friendly fire).
-
10 RepliesYou mean aim assist right? There is no auto aim in the game, and I seriously couldn't hit anything with out it. I wouldn't take it off even if there was an option
-
1 ReplyThere is an option to turn it off I thought? Cause I know I have mine turned off
-
I'll agree I'd like the option, don't know if I'd use it but I would like to try. There's been many times I've had somebody in my sights and just before I put the final nail in their coffin one of their teammates strifes right in front of them and my reticle gets pulled.

6 RepliesYou can't just turn it off, as they've explained in the past. Aim assistance, or target acquisition is built into the range of the gun. Each gun has varying values as to how range affects it's ability to drag across targets, primaries having the highest variable. If you don't like guns with a lot of assistance then you need to spec around that, there are perks that can decrease this quality.

6 RepliesEdited by OdinsKnight101: 3/3/2016 7:33:00 AMfor all the times auto aim has falied, it will not compare to the amount of mistakes that will happen when you turn it off.
try cod you can turn it off there..
1 ReplyIt'll hurt the snipers lmao

6 RepliesBump the aim assist sucks ass. I personally hate it.

The squeakers

Stop hard scoping, problem solved

If you use auto aim you're cheating...

4 RepliesEdited by magburner: 3/2/2016 1:13:37 PMHow long do you need to aim? if you had the shot lined up, you should have taken it.
-
7 RepliesGet yourself an Eirene, it's got one of the lower aim assist values, makes it a head shot machine.
-
This happens to me all the time
-
Just use eerine

While the aim assist in a way is better for most PVP scenarios, the complaint you have mostly affects special weapons. Unlike primaries, special weapons' aim assist values don't have anything to do with the hitbox, instead, it affects how much your reticle sticks to your target, hence when another enemy moves in front of said target it cause your reticle to get dragged as well.
-
1 ReplyI'd like to see u try and play trials without aim assist lol.
-
optional would be nice, or at the very least if they fixed it, in crucible it aims for centre mass meaning it can be hard to deal with head glitchers, and in PvE something i noticed just today is that it will aim for a phalanxes shield even when it flinches and its shield isn't in the way
-
Every now and then I'd be lining up a shot and getting ready to pull the trigger on a Captain/Knight/other big bad, then all of a sudden the best minion ever would run by and pull my crosshairs away from the big bad. It was mildly amusing, but very annoying.
-
2 RepliesJust so darn frustrating when someone walks in front of your res snipe.

2 RepliesEdited by Shadow_Legion: 3/2/2016 6:57:33 PMAim in this game does not work the same as other games. This game uses bloom and has the auto aim to help counter it. You want to know what destiny is like with no auto aim? Go take a short range hand cannon and shoot at something that is outside of its range. That would be destiny with no auto aim. EDIT: added a video on which explains Destiny's system better.
