Alright, shut up about "OP sniper rifles"

Good god, will we never run out of stuff to bitch about? Snipers are [b]exactly[/b] the same as they always have been. AA has not gone up. Range has not gone up. Impact as not go up. Not even player skill has gone up. However, mag sizes have gone down and many perks also received a nerf. I'm pretty sure [i]1kys has identical base stats to the Longbow Synth[/i]? [b]Nobody[/b] bitched about snipers back then. The only thing that has changed about them is that, now, more people use them. Shotguns are no longer the overwhelmingly best choice. You can't ohk someone at unreasonable ranges anymore. This leaves the door open to other options, which is why snipers are used more. In Y1 it was all about shotguns. Having a heavier mix of snipers introduced completely changes the game. You get killed frequently by snipers because you get caught off guard by shit you didn't used to have to worry about. I actually enjoy the added element to the game. It just makes things more interesting. [i]But the snipers have not changed!![/i] They weren't OP before and they're not right now. [b]Edit:[/b] some people argue that snipers are just too user friendly. Keep this in mind: [spoiler]That's not really he point of this game. It's not a simulator. It's not even as realistic as something like CoD or even Battlefield. You have powers not unlike those of a demigod. Running around with a sniper hitting headshots with relative ease shouldn't be out of the realm of possibilities.[/spoiler]

    • You speak of unreasonable ranges for shotguns but I sit there shoot a sniper from 5-10 feet away with this supposed flinch they have and they can still somehow land a dome shot? This happens way too often. You speak of unreasonable ranges for shotguns how about unreasonable ranges for snipers?

      • So it's not ok for a shotgun to blast you in the face from outside intended range, but it's okay for a sniper to quick scope you at ANY range, because logic.... People aren't asking for sniper nerfs, they are asking for a BALANCE, something we do not have at the moment. I remember all the snipers bitching and complaining untill shotguns got nerfed to the point of where they are now....

        • I'm fine with all the stats for the most part. I just wish there was sway or some other mechanic to make it somewhat challenging. Maybe not based off my stats, but I know sniping is pretty easy in this game compared to others

          • Reverse damage fall off. Snipers should do almost nothing at mid to close range the way shotguns do nothing at mid to long range. And don't say it's unrealistic, shotguns realistically can OHK you at 20M in real life. Time to make snipers useless out of their range. A little sway or removal from scope when shot wouldn't be out of line either.

            • The only thing I don't understand is what the community wants snipers to do. They get pissed when they camp, they get pissed when they quickscope. What're we supposed to do? No scopes only?

              • Two trees stand taller that the rest of the forest. When the tallest gets cut down, the height of the other remains unaffected and is still taller than every other tree. Snipers are just as OP as they've always been, but there were more OP weapons that needed to be addressed first. The problem lies in giving such high AA weapons OHK capabilities with virtually no penalty. Just because they have always been that way doesn't make it OK.

                • Whether they are op or not isn't really the problem. It's the number of people hardscope camping and slowing down the game to the point where it's just ridiculous and -blam!-ing boring. Flanking a team full of skilled snipers is not as easy as some people try to make it out to be. In 3v3 this may not be as big of a deal. In games like IB clash it's downright disgusting when a coordinated team full of snipers have every angle covered and know what they are doing.

                  • I'd argue that player skill when talking about sniper rifles has gone up, as shotguns got continually nerfed (without actually balancing them aloside each other) more and more people moved to sniping. Unfortunately snipers always have and will be overpowered in destiny unless they get some overhauls in how they play, small things like unscoping when hit and 0 aim assist are things from other games that balance their sheer power at any range. I highly doubt with the ammo being readily avaliable and maps being designed in such a way that snipers will ever decrease in use unless some serious rebalancing is done.

                    • Yes. But no. Snipers used to be countered effectively by handcannons at range. Yes. TLW could and did dominate snipers at sniper range. Nowadays a non-sniper needs a scout rifle to counter a Sniper. Snipers got nerfed in 2.0. Most peeps ignore that. Snipers are worse then in year one but peeps couldn't hear snipers bitching over the sound of their ThornWinter. Now snipers can shine because range actually -blam!-ing matters. I for one pulled out a Sniper, learned how to -blam!-ing snipe, and am enjoying it.

                        Snipers have not changed, that's about the only thing you got right. Because of all the nerfs done to viable primaries to counter a sniper (high impact pulse rifles for example), snipers ended up getting a power creep of sorts. [b][u]they got stronger because other weapons were made weaker![/u][/b]

At least when any other gun wasn't nerfed everybody was moving and the whole map was used. Now it's nothing more than a cheap cod /battlefield rip off with whole teams camping and not utilising the whole map anymore. Movement has been minimised, weapon choice has degraded to all the sheep using the same meta and yet we find people like you on the forums trying to convince the others that things haven't changed and got better. Y1 was all about people using the guns they liked, now it's nothing more than the sheep following the sheepherders meta not being able to choose their own guns anymore.

                                • You're exactly right, snipers have been the same since day one. But the thing is, other things have changed. Fusion rifles no longer work at their intended medium range, so snipers have taken their place. Because of this snipers have become very overused. I think if fusions are brought back to where they were in HoW, snipers wouldn't be as much of a problem. [spoiler]The only change I think should be done to snipers is slightly increased flinch.[/spoiler] [b][][][][/b]

                                • Up to a few months ago never pulled a snipe into pvp. I suck at sniping. And pvp, 1.0 kd across characters. Decided i try it, first match, Frontier, 3 kills in bout the first maybe 10 sec. Easy Peazy
