John Oliver exposes Donald Drumpf

Trump supporters will look at all the evidence of lies and hypocrisy and still see him as a viable candidate. There is no way this man is presidential material. He is a brand and that's it.

      • the nonsensical accusation that donald trumps real name was actually Donald Drumpf, as it was claimed by john oliver (which, SHOCKER, turned out to be a complete lie. In fact it says so in the actual goddamn book john oliver is quoting on the show. On page 26 the author explains that Trumps family was named "Trump" ever since the 17th century, somewhere between 1608 and 1620, as official documents show. But he just went "aaaah -blam!- it, just lie about the entire thing" For more check the post). Now, the whole fuzz about the name isn't really a big thing to begin with. But I said something like "[...]While, of course, the entire content of the show was mainly consisting of false accusations, or statements that were taken out of context" And "[...] They can't come up with one single accusation that actually is true" people started to ask me about what I meant with that. And since an actual metric shitton of people did that over the last few hours, here are the answers to the questions you PMed me or left as comments under the post. The tweets about John Stewart and Trump being a liar This was one of the prime examples of john oliver taking statements completely out of context to fit his narrative. He said something like "Trump is dishonest because he once suggested that John steward should keep his last name Leibowitz and be proud of his heritage and later on said that he never attacked john stewart about his name. Therefore Trump is a liar". Yeah because THATS how it happened, right? That's exactly how the story unfolded, right? First I'd like to mention this: The first response by Stewart was that his birth name might be Leibowitz, but that trumps birthname was, I quote: "-blam!-face von Clownface" and later "-blam!-face von Nervestick". Classy from stewart, isn't it? What ensued was of course a back and forth, back and forth, between the two of them. Trump actually said sometime later that he never attacked stewart on his last name, because the huffington post accused him of being anti semitic, which he denied with the exact tweet that john oliver used to proof "that he's a liar". That's the context. That he was accused of being anti semitic for pointing out that stewart's real name is leibowitz. Sounds pretty different now, doesn't it. And I'm 100% sure that john oliver knew this, but chose to ignore it. So in fact the only one lying is him, not trump. And we're only just starting (sigh) Politifact proves Trump is a liar My critisim here is, that he quoted politifact at all. Trump has a rating of 78% false or mostly false. This is true and was not an actual lie by john oliver, I give him that. Interesting is how he achieves such a rating though. For example: The statement that trump university was rated by better business with an A (actually it got anA+) was labelled false, because at some point they were rated lower. Uhmmm... ok. Now THAT makes sense... That he was against the Iraq war, the no fly zone in Lybia and that he said a US intervention in the middle east would destabilise the region are all also labelled false, despite the fact that there are interviews and tweets out there that proof exactly that. My favourite in the category false though, is that they labelled his statement about illegal immigration not being such a big topic if it weren't for him, simply with, I quote: "Only in his head". Quality journalism right there. There is more, but I think you get the picture. Politifact is incredibly unreliable (in all fairness, also for other candidates) but the number 78% just, once again, fitted his narrative. I'm rich therefore I'm honest Simply a lie. Never has trump said that. The campaign loan. He dosn't finance himself Ugh, just another total cheap try to smear him. Everyone with the slightest bit of financial understanding must have face palmed at this moment. Yes he loaned 12.6 million $ interest free to his own campaign. So what? Did he expect that trump walks in to a bank and withdraws 12.6 mio $ just to hand it to his campaign manager? He more or less did that in fact, but virtually instead of physically and him being the nominee or not - he's going to have to write off a big chunk of this money. John oliver however used an example where one person gave another person a loan, which is a complete different scenario. I can't imagine that everyone at last week tonight is so dumb to not understand the difference between thesse two scenarios. So again, just a blatant lie. The spy magazine, short fingered vulgarian thing The only funny part about the entire show. I actually laughed. If the whole "picture with golden sharpie" thing is true, is questionable though, since there are almost no reports which is weird, given the fact that Donald loves to start twitter wars about such things. However... does anyone think this is relevant? The 8 billion dollar / homeless guy thing At what point in history will people finally understand the goddamn effing difference between debt and net worth. A company without debt is dead. Every single company on this planet is so and so much in debt. Take a "accounting for beginners" class and that's pretty much what they will teach you in the first few hours. But again: That john oliver and/or his crew don't understand this difference is highly questionable. Not directly a lie but intentionally falsely reported. Again a cheap attempt to smear him. His various products Alright. Legit critisim. He had some weird ideas. The trump steak made me giggle. This would have made a great show by the way. John oliver could have focused on actually funny stuff like that. But nope... The mortgage company In hindsight it is easy to say that opening a mortgage company in 2006 was a dumb idea. But how could he possibly know at the time. Most of the american banks almost went bankrupt because they didn't see the crisis coming. What's the critisim here? That he's not a clairvoyant? That he made a bad decision at at the wrong time? Come on... That's just cheap. Trump Ocean Resort Baja Mexico After a succesful cooperation with Irongate at the Trump International Hotel and Tower (Honolulu) he decided to once again work together with them. However, Irongate went bankrupt in 2008 and trump withdrew his name. He was sued but finally ruled not guilty of any charges. Jason Grosfeld, Adam Fisher and Irongote however were sued over 7,6 million dollars. But the whole story certainly wouldn't have fitted into olivers narrative. So he intentionally left out crucial information and reported completely false. A**hole. Trump tower tampa Pretty much the similar story as above. SimDag went bankrupt, project was stopped. BUT in addition to that: The tower will be built , starting in 2018. So once again. If oliver told the whole story it wouldn't have fitted his narrative I guess. Quality journalism once again. Trump has no policies unlike Rubio and Cruz At this point I realized who was behind this cluster-blam!- of idiocy. I mean fact is that rubio and cruz adapted Trumps policies somewhere a few months ago. This is just a lie. Fullstop. I could go on about his free trade plans, healthcare plans, border control plans, the vets, the military and many more, but this is already out there a dozen times in this alphareddit. This was either a lie, something he was ordered to say, or noone in his crew gave one damn to actually look up his policies. Anyways: Sad! He has changed his mind on some issues Like every other candidate has. What's the point in that? You get new information, you change your viewpoint. It's called a learning curve. This can be critisized since it's true but then again: Are we going to talk about the changes cruz, rubio, bernie or hillary made over time? No? Thought so. The Drumpf shit I already unmasked this as a total lie and an extremly cheap attack so I dont do it again. Summary As I said. The entire show was basically one arrangement of lies, statements that were taken out of context, stories that were abbreviated to fit the narrative (so basically lies too) and intentional misinterpretations. Tl;dr: Last week tonight lied about almost everything in that show. It is obvious that they had to intentionally do that since everything is so twisted, taken out of context, or straight up wrong that a coincidence is extremely unlikely.

              • Sorry no matter how much you try to trash trump I will still vote for him. I could never vote for bernie as I dont support the way of life he wants to instill which is work hard earn less. I could never vote for hillary because I dont like "Keeping the presidency in the family" like with the bushes or clintons and shes a criminal. So unless you come up with some really really bad stuff about trump then hes got my vote

Trump comes from Drumpf, but that was never his original name.
