Well, gave connection based matchmaking a shot...

My vote is reverse course and bring back SBMM. I don't differentiate players based on k/d spreads. I differentiate them on map actual performance and the players I consistently keep seeing due to profile search parameters are consistently out of touch with the maps and why you don't do certain pathways with an auto rifle or a scout rifle just to name an example. I didn't like backpacking people in year 1 and I've seen enough matches where I'm going, "Do they think they are going to get a kill with that auto rifle in the middle of nowhere over there?" to say bring back skill based matchmaking or at least enough to where I don't have to see players like that. About knowing map strategy which can be seen by those charts you posted back in year 1 for Trials heat death areas. If you agree, then sign. If you disagree and think SBMM should be left off entirely, state your reasons why,

  • Everyone that plays this game should know by now that you are all a part of a large scale social and technological experiment that doesnt give two craps about what the players want. Everything they are doing is an experiment. They have never done the crap they are doing on the server structure they are using. Here is the deal. They are never going to fix it the way we want it. Its just americans constantly bickering over the assholes in the politics. We are always pissed and pissing about the problems and not paying any attention to why there is a problem. So what better way to keep people in the game that clearly has not brought anything really good to the table since it cane out other than the social aspect? Keep promising that there is always some change coming that will make it better. Thats how.

  • [b]Skill-Based Matchmaking is the Devil's work.[/b] First off, I'm sorry for your experience but Skill Based Matchmaking is awful. 1.) [u]Skill Based Matchmaking increases lag.[/u] Nobody likes lag and without CBMM, just by general terms, lag will increase. Pretty much speaks for itself. 2.) [u]Reduced fun-factor[/u]. I play video games for fun, like everyone else. Competing against my peers of equal skill is fun, but not [i]all the time.[/i] Every match is a sweaty, snipe fest, which is problematic because I can't just play a PvP match right before work or bed, because they require so much attention just to turn out positive. Additionally, I have to "play the meta" so to speak, with SBMM. I don't like using the same weapons all the time, but with SBMM, I'm forced because my pool is so try-hard. Without SBMM, I'll be matched up with a variety of players, some of whom won't be as sweaty as they currently are, which is a plus. 3.) [u]Stagnant improvement[/u]. I always desire to get better. Call it my DNA to try to be the best competitor I can be. With SBMM, I'm forced into matches with people of equal skill. There's no room for improvement because I'm playing people who make the same mistakes I do, so there's no way to assess what parts of my game need improving through trial and error. Under CBMM, I face a wide variety of players, good [u]and[/u] bad. So I can improve by playing against better competition and help other players improve by exposing weaknesses in their game. 4.) [u]I can't play with friends[/u]. Why? Because they get destroyed by players in my matchmaking. Not all my friends are as good as me. This means I have two options: A.) Not play with them. B.) Play with them and watch them get destroyed. A.) isn't ideal because now the matchmaking is choosing who I play with, not just my opponents. B.) is not ideal because not only would my friend not be having fun, but the players on our team because we have a dead weight member that shouldn't really be in our matchmaking.

  • This isn't CBMM. Every game is 10000 to 9000+. Also red bars everywhere. It's clearly skill based. They said in the update they [i]might[/i] implement connection based. They clearly haven't.

    • They lied to you again, so that you would have this exact reaction. They didn't change anything, making you think that the previous way is better. They may have flipped a few switches, but it's not CBMM. Bungie isn't changing anything. They've proven that time and again. Even after millions of people calling them on a blatant lie, they never apologized in a way that was sincere. Fool me once...

      • SBMM should exist for trials/iron banner. Problem is Destiny's infrastructure barely handles CBMM. They fix one thing and break five others areas that were fine. I've seen players spawn into games and no-one can see them and they can't do any damage. There is a new ADS bug on all weapons too. Firefly crashes the game. I've even spawned into at least two Iron Banner matches where it was 6 vs 0 and an instant win - there was never another team to begin with. SBMM should exist on dedicated servers with geo filters that you can choose from.

          • There is absolutely no way this IB is connection based mm. So far every single game I've played had 1-3 red bars and half the lobby yellow. While the other half green. I'm always green.

            • I like cbmm it's an improvement and less of a headache, only happens in 3-10 matches. I go to trials to play with smart ppl or run with a group like I do in iron banner

              • It is clear that SBMM is being used for clash. If Bungie says it's CBMM they're lying.

                Skill based matchmaking never left. There is apparently more of an emphasis on connection, but skill is still and always will be a factor.

              • The lag is too horrible with SBMM. It might have less of a chance winning if I get paired up with newbies, but being matched against red bars who teleport, shoot through walls and don't take damage I don't have any chance of winning at all. Please stop making terrible suggestions.

              • Sbmm should be left out, I would rather have unbalanced games in my favor or the other teams favor, as long as we all are well connected to the game
