Sniping tips?

Hey guys, I'm trying to expand my play style & wanted to try my hand at sniping. Now I'll start this off by saying I would probably consider myself a below average player but I'm definitely better that I was in year 1. Destiny is really my first FPS game & I would really like to this sniping thing down. Any tips would be greatly appreciated! Thanks guys. Edit: I only have two snipers: Eirene RR4 Scopes: Yepaki SS2 or Faucon SS1 Perk 1: Luck In the Chamber Perk 2: Quickdraw or Oiled Frame Perk 3: Unflinching or Mulligan Weyloran's March Scopes: Wildhawk SLS20, Longview SLR20, Tacsys SLS15 Perk 1: Last Resort Perk 2: Skip Rounds, Hand-Laid Stock, Reinforced Barrel Perk 3: Mulligan

  • Map knowledge and sniping lanes. Im not pro but thats about it because different strokes for different folks when it comes to gun play

  • Aim for head level and aa will do the rest
jk just know the sniping lanes on a map and try to memorize head level on those lanes
• Use low sensitivity unless you have hidden hand perk. Hidden hand is much more noticeable with higher sensitivity. It's better to aim high than it is to aim low, aim assist will help lock onto the head that way. The best scope that I like is Shortgaze. Shortgaze is a low zoom, high aim assist scope. Best to keep moving as a sniper, don't stay hard scoped too much. If you do snipe in a snipe lane, move after a couple kills, because they're going to hunt you down when you least expect it. Snapshot and Shortgaze are a beautiful combination. Don't snipe out in the open. Utilize cover - unless you're moving and quick scoping. Memorize where your reticle will land when you scope in. Try drag scoping and twitch (flick) scoping.

  • Always go for the head Stay fixed on head-level Only peek when you're confident you know exactly where his head is Radar Just a few. Good luck!

    • Tip 1. Lower your cursor speed down to 3 or 4. Trust me, it helps. Tip 2. Never challenge an orange glare. Tip 3. Slide or jump past known sniper lanes. There's probably a guy watching them. If there wasn't a threat, it wouldn't be called a sniper lane! Tip 4. Aim for the dome. Tip 5. Just because you think you can "take em" doesn't mean they can't head pop you. Don't be too proud to break contact and get a better spot. Tip 6. Practice practice practice practice practice. Tip 7. Always know when special ammo is coming up and where to get it. Tip 8. Have a back up plan when someone closes the distance. And most importantly: WATCH YOUR RADAR.

Buy the vendor 1000 yard stare and use the Longview scope option. Use that until you get something better.

        • The weyloran is a good starting point to get use to sniping, it's low impact but the fire rate is fast to you get a chance to send a follow up shot and get the kill. You should look up TrueVangaurd on you tube has a great series of videos with tips for learning to snipe and general pvp help

          • Idk if this will help, but this is what I do: - Get used to head leveling from high elevation, low elevation, and flat ground. - Don't double peek unless you KNOW you're gonna shoot first. - Keep sniping. That's all I got.

            • Don't hesitate, don't be afraid to miss and if you do miss don't go back ( they'll be watching ). Don't believe the hype snipers won't get kills for you, you still have to aim for the head. The aim assist only makes drag scoping easier.

            • Sticky snipers are what you need, they are not what you have, find something with short gaze and hidden hand for the most aim assist. 1k has the highest Nat aim assist, I've also had good luck with my glass promontory with short gaze and hidden hand.

              • Use different scopes try to see which one you like. Aim assist shouldn't be the factor you use a scope. Practice practice and always when you die think what could've you done to avoid that. Watch videos on yt on this, helps seeing and watching what good people do. And always don't be afraid to body tap and tip or pull your primary.

I'd pick the the Eirene. Field test your preference for scopes on Patrol. LitC Quickdraw Mulligan until you get comfortable with it, then move into Unflinching (or a better rifle)
