I Know Why It's Called The Crucible
According to Google, a crucible is a ceramic or metal container in which metals or other substances may be melted or subjected to very high temperatures. And when you work in environments with high temperatures, you naturally sweat. And what do you call people who try their little hearts out with strong weapons just to keep a K/D ratio above 1.0?

For the next Destiny sequel, I suggest calling multiplayer The Sauna. So we can sit and relax while sweating.

"the crucible of combat" a place or situation in which different elements interact to produce something new. "the crucible of the new Romantic movement" The crucible tests your pvp skills and people "interact" (shoot each other in the face) and whine that somethings too op so something gets nerfed or new weapons are added. The crucible is a melting pot, or a trial. PVP is a metaphor for both, so it works. Got what it meant straight away because I read the crucible
