In all respect, technically the large majority of history people have been following one form of religion in one way or another. The trend towards atheism( or being agnostic, whatever you want to call it) has only been happening in recent history. Therefore, it would not be a stretch to say the burden of proof lies on the side of disproving a higher power.

Atheism isn't about disproving god

I understand that. I meant to use the term in a general sense to name something I'm not sure what to call. Perhaps there would be a better word for me to use that you know?
