.net, .com, and .org

We all notice how some urls end in either: .com, .net, and .org. Does anyone know the difference between them?

 •
We all notice how some urls end in either: .com, .net, and .org. Does anyone know the difference between them?
On the Internet, a domain is part of every network address, including web site addresses, email addresses, and addresses for other Internet protocols such as FTP, IRC, and SSH. All devices sharing a common part of an address, or URL, are said to be in the same domain. To obtain a domain, you must purchase it from a domain registrar.Internet domains are organized by level. Most people are familiar with the Top Level Domains (TLDs) of .com, .net,.org,etc. TLDs are the most general and basic part of the URL. There are actually many top level domains..net domain indicate organizations involved in networking technologies, such as Internet service providers and other infrastructure companies,.com web site addresses were for those publishers out to make some kind of profit through their Internet services,.org website website that related to an organization. We can buy .com domains from domain registrars like TheWebPole.com .

There are also the countries, .fr .ca etc.
These. I was going to type what the FaceNuke said but then I saw that he posted it. Then I was going to type what Darek said but then I saw his reply. Lol.

 • .com=commercial: A product is offered and the sites purpose is generally to either be a billboard for advertisements or a paid services site. .net=network: Free from advertisements, a service on the site is provided for free even though their product is not, and is meant for network providers, like Bungie and their servers. They can sell products. .org=organization: For charities or non-profit companies. Although these hold true for most, there are no restrictions on who can get what domain name, so never fully trust a site.

 •
Posted by: Mordicaii There is no real difference. .com is used for companies/general sites .org is for non-profit .net is a replacement for .com
.net used to only be used for networks for servers and such (For instance, Facebook would of been Facebook.net back in the day.) But now it's used differently.

 • Yes, and I assume you know how domains and domain name servers work? Anyway each of those name endings have their own server, and our ISPs have the whole list of DNS servers. We just send where we want to go, and they do all the dirty work.
