Forever 319 Is Ok. Crappy loot is not.

Let's be honest, Destiny is about grinding. It's about praying and sacrificing to the almighty RNGesus. For Year 1 players I think we developed a sense of acceptance about the cruel hands we were dealt from RNG because of one simple little difference: [b]The loot was amazing.[/b] We've changed our mindset from, "I hope I get the Black Hammer in CE" to... "I hope I get a 3___ from Kings Fall!" Do you see how the whole system is no longer about the FUN of good loot? It's now about a number and that just sucks the fun out of it. Let's think about how awful legendaries are now. Starting with armor, the perks are all variations on the [b]exact same things[/b]. - gain more agility on double kills - gain more melee from whatever - armor boost from certain subclass - increase grenade throw - faster reload with whatever - etc... [u][b]HOLY BLAM THOSE ARE BORING[/b][/u] This doesn't even touch on the reskins. The exotics are without creativity, totally depraved of any imaginative thought. Remember armor like the Sunbreakers for the Warlock? Or Don't Touch Me for Hunter? Or St. 14 for the Titan? Although two of those are in Year 2 the point is they were thought of during year 1. The guns are so infuriatingly boring I can't even touch on those. Except for Supercell, Tlaloc, and maybe the Ace of Spades, year 2 exotics are also completely without imagination. I do love swords, they are pretty awesome. But across the board, Destiny has such an opportunity to better the gear and make this game more like what got us into it in the first place. Not because of "meta" booooo, but because it brought a smile to our faces when we used them. Gjallarhorn, Fatebringer, Found Verdict, Ice Breaker, Red Death, Vex Mythoclast, Super Good Advice, Thorn, Invective, the original Black Hammer, the Last Word, elemental primaries in general, Vision of Confluence, Hunger of Crota, Abyss Defiant, Praedyth's Revenge, Truth, i could go on. [b]Those[/b], are what got me into Destiny. Getting to 320 without [b]fun[/b] gear has been pushing me away.

    This is definitely the problem with Destiny, and possibly even the meta right now. If new guns were actually causing ripples in the water, we'd have all sorts of lucrative guns to use. But Bungo's scared they'll have to nerf anything... but then they end up nerfing stuff anyway. I don't know what's going through their heads. Not sure they do, either. All I know is, this game is quickly turning into a Sniper/Scout Range/Kite game. Anyone not running those setups is a solo/casual who just runs out and dies or, Gods be willing, he manages to get a kill and probably die just as soon. I fail to see how lopsiding the balance in the opposite direction is a fix, it's actually more practically Bungo's preferential bias showing they don't give a hoot for realism in their gunplay. Everyone else is turning into elitists and resorting to whatever the meta dictates. And it's getting old because the newest meta is the thousand yard boomstick, so it's a very fickle meta for the less devoted players. Makes victory seem impossible unless you stack a team of six. That's probably what everyone else is doing these days, too. Year 1 was better by far. Not sure where they went wrong, but TTK had nothing but aesthetics and fewer bugs on its side. Entertainment value is about the same as any other expansion, and it only kept me playing for a fraction as long as most expansions did as far as I'm concerned, even with twisted RNG that makes you reroll 3 of the same Class to optimize weekly gains from the Raid early xpac (you used to be able to grind back to cap level with a realistic pace, despite additional content. Now they've tweaked and rigged it to try and make the Level/Subclass Packages more tempting.) Also, it chased away some of the veteran players who were the infrastructure for many other players' existing social networks. Ripping them from the game because Bungie was trying to fleece an extra $20 out of remaining players doesn't seem to have been worth it at all. It really sucks because I want my friends to come back, but it seems I'll be leaving sooner than that ever happens. It was worth for Year 1.

    • Being stuck at 317-319 isn't as bad as being forever 29. At least once you get to a higher light level the last few levels are trivial and don't affect your gameplay much. 29 was a serious disadvantage in VoG.

    • Another forever 319 here as well. My titan has been there for weeks. Now I'm short a 320 class item to fix it. I'm one or two armour pieces away from 320 on my alts as well (both 319 as well). Seems like Bungie just want us to grind away.

        You've perfectly summed up my issue with Y2. Rather than making people grind for cool gear, people now grind to reach a light level. I'm not sure I will return to Destiny unless that's fixed. IMHO, it's the biggest issue facing the game right now.

        • Yep. Forever 319 here. A 320 ghost isn't going to fix that. I pretty much only get weapon drops from the challenge modes. Would be nice to get the gear we actually need. I was under the impression that the loot system should be giving us the things we are missing. That is either broken, or a flat out lie. It's appalling that we can't get a response about the loot.

          • I totally agree. The raid guns are completely useless, all legendary armor is exactly the same, most of the guns even look the same with no unique features, and everything that was unique is left behind in year one. Bungie needs to get their crap together.

          • People will argue this till the end, but a huge draw back to Destiny's pve is the arena style pvp. Because there needs to be balance in the crucible, bungie is scared to make weapons that where better than year one weapon. Take Broderlands for example there was no pvp so gearbox had full creative freedom and where able to make the weapons as op as the choose. But in destiny is a weapon is too powerful, well we all know what happens.

          • Nightfall seemed better to me and my friends this week. (Do you think that the patch for ghost deliver had an unannounced payload?) No one got emotes or horn for a change. Weren't excellent but were definitely mo' better, even the blues...

          • Kinda reminds me how we were stuck at 29, except we had awesome guns like pocket infinity...pre patch suros...good legendarys like vog guns and shadow price. What I'm saying is leveling up has always been a grind, but at least we had good, fun, rewarding weapons to use and earn while doing it.

            • Don't forget that there are no more elements on raid weapons and they all have cocoon, so not only are they boring, there's also no reason to choose them over a gun you might like more.

            • 319 is nothing to 29. Being at 30 actually meant something. In year 2 you could be 311 and there won't even be a very noticeable difference.

              • I remember the excitement when the G-Horn fell, ice breaker and the VEX!!! You are right. No drops that bring that excitement in year two. More like side missions where you are just as its over. And why can't there be fresh loot for VoG, Crota and even PoE? Those were fun but why play now? Nothing at all to gain that you can use.

              • Agreed. I miss using year one raid primaries and tackling nightfalls with them. I've actually started going back and replaying VoG to hopefully get two primaries I was never lucky enough to get. I managed to score my first Fatebringer just the other night. Vision of Confluence is next. I'm going to pick up Crota's End as well and start collecting those great weapons again, too. KF is a decent raid, but the weapons lack imagination and that "wow" factor ... Save Quillem's Terminus.

                • Man I miss gally and all the other great weapons and gear. That made the game so much more fun. All this generic, low quality, boring gear as taken all the fun out of the game.

                • Plus, good guns made NM worth running. CE normal = black hammer, meaning seasoned players were willing to run it to help song new players for their chance at the good weapons. KF normal = Useless.

                • I'd wager the main reason why the Y2 gear is so pathetically tame and borderline boring is because Bungie doesn't wanna upset the 'balance' of PvP. They wanna play it safe rather than strive to make some powerful and unique perks.
