Is Shade Step working as intended?

Yes it should remove grenade tracking and be immune to damage

Just wondering what peoples opinions and possibly some staff members at Bungie think of how shade step is working right now At the moment using it can: * remove aim assist * makes sticky grenades such as fusions fall off to avoid death * escape from tag grenades such as Firebolt and Arcbolt * remove tracking from Axion bolt and skip grenades Was this intentional to its design and if not do you believe it should be removed or do you believe it is a balanced movement mechanic? P.S not salty just questioning it's design

    Considering that more than half of the PvP community plays on a hunter the poll will be inaccurate. IMO - The glitch should be fixed The ability to stop tracking after one shade step should be removed There should be more of a cool down after using two shade steps You should be able to deal damage by shooting at the shade step animation just like Blink for fairness sake If these changes are made I feel like Shadestep will be more balanced

    • This is a biased poll, only because the hunters make up the majority of pvp. Not your fault, but if you can stick someone while blinking, then you should be able to stick someone when shade stepping. End of story.

      • I use it all the time so I Happy with it as is. I'm sure firebolt still tags you even if you try to shadestep away cause it's range is huge. Been killed heaps during animation to so you're not immune to gunfire either.

      • What's the point of an evade move if it can...uh...evade stuff? I think it's working fine. Every time I kill a Hunter during shadestep it gives me an "I see you" medal so they're not completely immune.

      • It's an evasive maneuver so I think it's fine where it is. Yeah itt sucks when my skips lose their tracking but I can't complain. The glitch is really where the problem lies, it's pretty hard to kill a shadestep glitch (ab)user who is also using a shotgun. They're so damn fast in close quarters. To balance shadestep with the other classes I think warlocks should also be given some armor that allows them a mobility perk in the same vein as a twilight garrison boost or a graviton forfeit shadestep. A (very) short distance ground based teleport, almost like blink, would be cool to see. They do use space magic after all. From a hunter main.

        • Idc if they make us get hit by certain nades, as long as they leave the cooldown as is. Shadestep is one of the most fun things about hunters, please don't slow us down!

        • Op claims this isn't a nerf post, then continues to say how the perk shouldn't do certain things (things he doesn't even understand, seeing as it doesn't remove aim assist at all, it just disorients it for a second) any skilled player can kill a hunter mid shadestep. Sure sounds like you want certain abilities removed from the perk, that is defined as a nerf kiddo. Maybe you just, suck?

          • I wanna start by saying there's no salt intended and if I come off as rude it's because I work thirds and am tired as shit. I feel bad for you running into this glitch often but that's what it is, it's a glitch that needs fixed. You aren't immune to damage. I've been shotgunned out of it and sniped people out of it pretty regularly. I didn't even know about the grenade thing until someone stuck me and I shade stepped toward them and didn't blow up. And since then I have not been able to recreate that scenario. It's supposed to be used to escape a situation and if you make it out of the AoE of firebolt, arcbolt ect. It shouldn't hit you. I haven't noticed it not hitting someone who still should've been hit by those grenades but I'm just one person. The same thing goes for axion bolt tracking, I haven't noticed it. So it has some glitches that need addressed and fixed. When it glitches, could it be considered OP? Yes, yes it could. But in my experience, it doesn't glitch very often. But maybe that's because I don't try to exploit glitches. Is it op when it's working as intended? Not at all. All they need to do is fix the occasional glitch and it will be fine

            • I'm pretty sure the loss of tracking isn't intended, but it might be something they couldn't fix. The stickies shouldn't be falling off either, similar to blink. You can be damaged during Shadestep though.

              If they ever want to nerf subclasses again, start with fire bolt grenades then go from there. Y'all stupid af, thinking that one is op because you don't use it but the ones you do use aren't op. Keep it. As for firebolt it never was meant to track like axion grenades. Firebolt are meant to explode into all general directions, so don't bs that shadestep can escape it because they are not meant to be tracking bolts.

              I've died countless time by being stuck with grenades. Making these "fall off" isn't an accurate statement. I've slso still been damaged by axion after shade stepping. Also, what made you question is design? I will say this: I don't think graviton should give you 2 shadesteps before the 4 sec cooldown. I think it should be 1 then cooldown.

            • First, it does not remove aim assist, second, of course it can dodge a tracking rocket, they don't exactly do 180s in midair. Yes it does -blam!- with tracking nades, but that's because when you use it you technically don't exist to tracking for a moment so grenades have nothing to lock into for a moment, but you sure as shit exist to bullets. It is working as an evasive tool, which is what it is defined as.

                  • With the glitch? OP as hell. Without it? Maybe a bit too good for a neutral, but I don't think it's a problem. Nightstalker and bladedancer are in a similar place right now. Both have some of the best neutral abilities for any subclass, but their supers are unreliable and/or glitched in some way. This, right now, makes them balanced.

                  • I don't think shade step should have immune frames. It's the only thing in the game that a user can do at will to negate damage. Canceling the tags from firebolts and seekers bugs me but I think that's meant to be that way. ----Hard Light 4 Life---------------------

                    • So what does the word evade mean again? Oh, that's right, to dodge an incoming attack. So basically you want every ability it has to be gone and hunters be left with an emote for a perk? For 1, you can shoot people out of it, happens all the time with snipers, 2, it should be able to evade a tracking rocket, if it can't evade weapons or supers, what's it point? To do cool ninja rolls? It's like kids these days don't understand the definition of the words in an items description. It's called reading comprehension, get some.

                          • No, it's an evade for a reason, we can't immediately shoot after using it either theres a delay on everything, the animation takes a long time as well leaving us defense less for a short while, and if you're gonna speak about cooldowns lets talk about twilight garrison then..., and twilight garrison isnt subclass based
