What do you think it's gunna be? It'd be cool to play during the collapse or as the guardians long before our own. I personally think it's gunna be a sequel and that more will be revealed about the past in the future (just like what the cryptarch is doing) through things like the archive. Plus, I don't have a source or even know if this is true but I heard that all our progress will be kept, so any exotics, levels, characters etc. will carry over. I'm not sure if it's true but if it is then it must be a sequel, unless they just completely leave behind some exotics, like I'm sure that Gjallarhorn was made only recently so unless they're planning on forever leaving gjallarhorn in whatever year were in, then we can't go back much further than 50-200 years. So yeah... What do you think it will be?

How about a sequel with missions that use Vex time technology to travel back in the past???
-
3 RepliesPrequel wouldn't make sense because there's nothing to do. It was the golden age. What i think they should do is instead of telling us that they "could" tell us the legends, they actually tell us yknow.

Edited by FRYKILL: 2/18/2016 4:25:24 PMMore than likely it will be a prequel. Then Bungie can say they have a reason not to allow your guardian and any equipment to not carry over. Even though it's a new game, Bungie repeatedly stated they want you to carry your guardian through their 10 year journey.
-
They can't have a prequel to something without a story.
-
3 RepliesWhy not have a sequel with flashback missions to the golden age? You can have both at once, and I don't think that the collapse would satisfy the community, as I can't see it being a full game.
-
My guess - based on the assumption that 10 years support means 4 more games - destiny 2 = birth of the guardians Destiny 3 = fall of earth Destiny 4 = between 2 and 1 (inc twilight gap?) Destiny 5 = driving out the darkness.
-
Please, no more prequels.
-
Maybe the content around fall will be the prequel
-
2 RepliesPraying to god is a prequel

1 ReplyI actually made a very long story about a lot of plot twists and vex, exo stranger and also a lot of time travel I bumped it a lot over twenty times but no one replied destiny 2 wasn't actually announced then...
-
It's most likely a sequel. But with all the grimore cards, a prequel could be highly possible
-
4 RepliesIt will be a sequel but we all want a prequel. No one gives a damn about the cards I wanna do that shit.
-
1 ReplyDon't you need some kind of a story to start with before you make a prequel/sequel? And don't give me that "read the grimoire" crap, we both know there was virtually no coherent story or detail actually IMPLEMENTED in the game.
-
They could do kinda both. If they took a race we dont currently play and integrated it in past and future game play. When we make a new race char, we play their past of how they r involved with the traveler and/or the hive and somehow cross paths with the guardians. Maybe a lost race that the traveller visited (fallen?) that still maintain their power to some degree. Another idea is that we get caught in s vex time loop, or say what skolas was doing, and travel to past events and create paradox (s) that future sequels deal with. Time travel opens up a lot of opportunities (and frustrations), and the have already established that in the game.

Edited by Andalite: 2/18/2016 3:16:39 PMHow does a prequel make sense within the Destiny universe? We know what happened in the past there'd be zero surprises in the entirety of the game, including DLC. This is where you heard that progress will carry over http://venturebeat.com/2014/12/08/destiny-2-characters-carry-over/

4 RepliesIt's sad when the players could make a better game then the actual developers made.
-
Why not both? Start off with an origin story for your character. Find out what they did before and after the collapse. Then progress with the story.
-
If they really wanted to they could use some of their own information for a prequel. Throughout TTK grimoire it talks about the traveler going from place to place and generally just screwing everything up. If they get bored enough they could take us back to those times but I highly doubt that it will happen
-
I think it would be better off being a prequel, that way we actually get to play the story told in Destiny's grimoire cards
-
1 ReplyA prequel would be awesome... Lots to learn. Perhaps they use a Vex portal and send us back to right a past wrong, making all current content yet viable.

Prequel, i want to hold the rose.

5 RepliesWhy don't we go back to the war that Exos were created to fight? We were fighting an enemy so dangerous that we humans, during the Golden Age, at the height of our power, created a sentient race to fight for us. I would like to see what that enemy could possible be.

2 RepliesIm still Questioning how our gaurdian died (i cant be stuffed reading grimore cards)
-
It's an expansion packaged in another box. Cmon kids. This isn't rocket science.

2 RepliesUnless we have to start new characters, we'd be dead in a prequel.
