A ranked and unranked playlist would probably be best. This way, when you want to get better, challenge yourself, or even get better rewards, you go to ranked. And when you want to just play a nice game of crucible with some friends or want to relax, go to unranked. Ranked would be primarily SBMM and unranked would be primarily CBMM.
And it could be switched easily. We should be able to switch between them like we do in raids or missions from normal mode to hard mode.

I agree! But I don't think we can expect that type of change too soon. Hopefully they're looking into it for a future large update. In addition, ranked playlists would give the less skilled players a place to compete with similar opponents.

That's where the SBMM would come in to play. Whether you are skilled or unskilled, you will get paired up with people at the same skill level as you. And the better you do, the more skilled players you go up against
