Petition to remove the ability to upgrade gear with Motes of Light
Whatever happened to having to actually use a weapon in order to level it up? Now all you have to do is spam Motes into your gear and you'll have it leveled up in 30 seconds. I prefer the challenge of having to work for the perks. Bungie should remove this feature and make it so we have to use our guns to get XP for it.

This can apply to any exotic and God roll legendary. Why add another mindless grind to the game. Edit: You are more than welcome to continually donate your motes to your faction

Nobody is forcing you to use motes to level them up. If you want to grind it the slow way who is stopping you?

Some people just have to complain about everything...if you dont like it Level up the guns your way Without motes But just cuz you want to does not mean everyone should have to. There is already enough grinding in this game.

Don't use them then dude? If you don't like it don't do it or are you that worried about someone else using them. They are wasting on leveling gear anyway more useful for faction rep o don't use them for gear. I also don't bitch on the forums about it. All you guardians so bored to death just complaining to complain. Just quit already if you're that unhappy with the game.

You earned your motes of light, instead of the motes of light just sitting in your vault they can be put to good use. If you want to grind it out then do so...

I like it because I can tell if a weapon suits my play style without hating it because it has no perks. Raid weapons, sure, but not random drops that can be good/bad

So don't use motes to level your gear. Problem solved and you didn't even have to ruin something other people like.

I love the mote system and I'm a year one. Makes it easy to max a Exotic to its potential.

Say I get the NL Shadow scout rifle as a crucible drop. This scout, when compared to the MIDA, has the exact same impact*, but has a faster fire rate. In fact, it shoots at the same speed as the Inward Lamp from Trials. Now, I get Hand Laid Stock, Full Auto, and Zen Moment as my perk roll. Sounds pretty sweet right? Unfortunately, I have to level this gun up over the next few days before I can actually use these perks. As another example, what if I just want to try this gun out? See how it handles? See if it fits my style? It is more effective to have the perks immediately available, then to have to grind for a few days if all I want to do is try out the gun. Also, less grind equals more fun I could actually be having with said gun. *The Impact stat is a lie. While the NL Shadow does have a faster RoF over MIDA, it's damage is less. MIDA does 55 headshot damage, allowing 4 headshot kills. Shadow does the same as Inward Lamp, at 45 headshot damage, making it 5 headshots to kill. #TitanMasterRace

As hmm I don't wanna say it's a good idea but it's not a bad one either well I like this feature only for one reason I can level up legendary weapons I say weapons because even with motes of light you need a huge amount to max out a piece of armor. Anyway I like this on legendary weapons because if you max out a weapon just leveling up not upgrading the nodes and them dismantle said weapon you get 5 legendary marks instead of the usual 3. If that wasn't there then I would be all for it that feeling you get when you finally maxed out your weapons was awesome but now it's like oh hey yeah I finally got that exotic....now it's maxed out.

2 RepliesPersonally I would prefer experimenting with the full potential of a weapon/gear right off the bat than to have time artificially extended thru leveling. I would say even go further- no leveling or planetary materials. Just come fully leveled. I respect your different opinion though. My two cents.

You don't have to do it. Level them up the old fashioned way I prefer to not wait a fcuking week to see if I even like the gun after its leveled up You have fun with that

The motes represent experience in the game. The bar fills up, then you receive motes from it.

Just don't use motes... You can effectively still have the old system for yourself.

2 RepliesRemove the upgrade feature at all. It takes way too long if you try to grind xp, gearparts take weeks. And with the use of motes it becomes obsolete. So just remove it, it's just silly.

I like to earn the experience the hard way, but I will use the motes from time to time as a reward. To a certain degree you have to earn the motes anyway.

You do realise using Motes is optional.... And if I've got Motes coming out of my ass then I'm gonna use them
