It's there for a reason. I feel like Bungie should implement a system. If you use team chat, you're free to continue enjoying Crucible. However, if you are not currently in the team chat channel and your team is losing by a maximum of [b][i][u]150[/u][/i][/b] points, it will automatically kick you. I feel like this would promote team work, and punish those who refuse to be a team player. Don't act like confused, friendless fish, guys. Use the team chat and become a mighty school.
