I wonder and wouldn't doubt it but it comes with the territory of an MMORPG (loosely used) based game.

1 ReplyI stopped grinding for light level a while ago, now I just grind for gear I want.
-
1 ReplyFrom a certain perspective yes. From that perspective though, you might as well wait and buy the game 8 years from now and skip all the pointless grinding to temporary level caps between now and then.
-
If you had fun playing then it wasn't pointless. If it it was for some stat or level only, then it was.
-
Just for Oryx we needed 315+ to be comfortable
-
In reality, how much of 310+ grind was necessary?
-
If you're maxed lvl at the start of new content there isn't rlly much to do. I personally don't mind
-
With the infusion system you should be able to just infuse your gear if you really like that certain weapon or piece of gear, so if you really like something it wouldn't be pointless to infuse it so it's a higher light level when the light cap increases
-
This again.......are we going to see threads like this EVERY content update where LL increases?
-
This is an FPS. Nice try
-
Depends on whether or not infusion is retained. I have rolls on guns that are going to be hard to beat if the perk system stays the same. They could do something like reroll my stuff, ala Shot Package... but as long as infusion is there any old gear can be dragged forward.
-
Grind for sure. That's the game... But grind to play and have fun. Screw 320. End game content is easy once at 310-312. Even lvl advantage in pvp isn't that big if your over 305 now. Use to be I could go in as a 297 and still revive snipe when the norm was 308-314. So don't grind for all 320 gear. It's not worth it. Too hard to do. But grind to play and to get the pieces u want regardless of light.
-
Why eat if you already ate yesterday
-
Is playing any game now "pointless" when there will just be a new game out later? How do you function in everyday life with that attitude?
-
the grind for light level will always be pointless because they will always be upping the light levels
-
It is now. Now is the perfect time e to take a break and enjoy other games like the Division, Fallout, Witcher, and for those bitching about "skill," Dark Souls 3.
-
I wonder how "significant" of an increase it will be. 50-100 light would be cool but par of me thinks it will be to 330..
-
1 ReplyI'm gonna stop where I am at 317. I'll just buy 320 gear from the vendors.
-
1 ReplyI had fun grinding it but at times I do sit there and even when I played WoW I thought all these hours I spend raiding will be pointless. But I still do it because I enjoy it. Even then WoW had a hard Raid that I barely touched I always did normal mode. Come to find out Activision is Blizzard. ...

1 ReplyMMORPG, Destiny wants to be this. No grind is pointless, unless you don't enjoy the game, if you don't enjoy the game you should play something else. The constant quest for newer better gear is what keeps people playing. If they just gave you all the best stuff, would you still play?
-
1 ReplyMaybe not; there could an etheric light2.0 system like HoW era to keep our Year2 gear still relevant.
-
How would it be pointless more than it already was when you did it? If you'asking whether it was a waste of time, yes. If you're asking if your progression will be useless, no because infusion.
-
Well which are they increasing? Maybe we be LVL 42 and still only to 320? Or maybe 330? Since that is what was showing in the Armory for a bit.
-
If you wana look at it pessimisticly, then yes, but thats like saying "why bother even playing any game when you're eventually gonna beat it and be done with it", in my opinion. Theres no incentive of getting the new stuff if the old stuff is jist as good lol. Imagine if the old year 1 gear was up to year 2 standards. Would anyone even bother with the new gear? Probebly not as much.
-
Yea it's always pointless. I've gotten to max light every dlc (30,32,34) and I'm still grinding for 320. But at the end of the day, it won't matter for shit once the cap is increased. Soon the vender gear will have higher light than 320, and the Kings fall stuff will be out of the picture. But the grind to get to max light is just like the max goal of each dlc, so I'll keep grinding. It can be gut-wrenching at times (getting 3 320 arms from golgoroth when all you need is boots, or getting 3 320 primaries from oryx when all you need is a helmet) but overall I say it's pretty fun, and no game has ever held my attention like this. But yea besides personal goal and challenge, no point in getting max light until the very last dlc

You must be new
-
Almost every game that has a leveling system increases the level with dlc / expansion content. It isn't "wasted effort". You had fun getting there didn't you? If you didn't, then you should find a gaming experience that makes you happy.
