CANNOT CONNECT - AT WITS END!!!

Ever since the Crimson update (Xbox One) I cannot connect to the game. I get to the Taken King Splash page, press A, then it say connecting lower right with the animation of the lines running for a second or two, then it freezes (music still plays). Before you ask - I have already done the following: Cleared cache (several times) Uninstalled/reinstalled game (twice so far with full 18Gb updates!) Checked router settings and port forwarding (all open, all fine with other games and when tested in system settings for multiplayer) Rebooted router (several times) I am at my wits end and my son - who's a mad keen Destiny player - is distraught because all his friends seem to be online and enjoying Crimson! Can someone from Bungie please assist. As it stands, we have a worthless disk (having paid out for Destiny and later the Taken King Legendary editions - both now useless).

  • Hello, Bee. When you say your game freezes, yet still plays music, how long do you normally let the game run before closing the application? Do you see any loading icon at the bottom right of the screen? As welll, would it be possible to provide a video of this issue impacting your console, including your Gamertag? Thank you.

  • Maybe if a disc version check the disc is clean, I've had it in the past that games won't load from dirty disc. Also I take it you've done a hard reset and turned the Xbox off for at least 6 minutes.

    • This doesn't work for me I'm afraid. It just freezes on the 'Connecting' screen. I have tested the multiplayer connection on the Xbox One and it's all fine. NAT is open on the router and all the required ports are forwarded - also UPnP is enabled. It's not an issue with Xbox Live, it's something in the update that has borked the game. It was fine before this with no problems connecting or playing. But has been impossible to do so since update. Have tried starting game with other accounts but still no joy. It does the same thing? PLEASE BUNGIE HELP!!!

    • I'm having what could be a similar issue, that also seems to have started with the update. I start Destiny, press A, it says Connecting in the corner, then pops up a message saying You Must Be Connected To Xbox Live To Play Destiny. Even after a hard reset and clearing the cache it still does it, but to get it to go away, all I have to do is return to the dashboard, hit the start button (or whatever they are calling it now) and tell it to quit Destiny. Then I restart Destiny, and it's fine after that. Maybe the same will work for you.
