So, confirmed new expansion coming, new update sometime in the spring and Destiny 2 confirmed for 2017
Busy -blam!-ing day at Bungie today, no?
For anyone who hasn't checked out the formerly known as BWU today, they've announced that Destiny 2 will come out in 2017, there's going to be an update some time in the spring of this year which will add new gear to earn, something for PvE players that will increase replayability, and a "significant Light increase", and then some time this year, there will be a "large expansion".
Those are basically all the details we know about all three things. But I think that we can expect many more details to come as we get closer and closer to each of the three release dates (whenever that might be) just like we saw with the announcement of The Taken King.

It's going to be the largest expansion since TTK, so it could be sparrow racing with 3 maps instead of 2 and people will still praise it.

7 RepliesMy prediction will be that there won't be any new DLC expansion. Just new content where they bring old raids and activities along with gear from year 1 into year 2. Predictions like Cabal DLC/etc. where they impact the story might not be seen. Why? They already released a Destiny Edition game where all DLC's are included to simplify purchasing for new customers so it makes it pretty clear that there won't be any new significant DLC. So I'm calling it now, their new expansion is just going to be all the shit they left in Year 1 transformed into Year 2.

Probably won't be enough to pull me back into the game. I haven't played for about a month and let me tell you, I've been bored as hell but I do feel like I'm not a slave to the game. It's given me time to play other amazing games like borderlands 2, gta v, and Diablo 3. Hell I've even been playing Warframe. But unless both of these "updates / dlc" feel like a whole new game, I won't be playing.

5 RepliesI cannot believe people are falling for the SAME tactic again. What did the weekly update ACTUALLY reveal? "Destiny 2 releasing "sometime" in 2017"? Well, THAT was the worst kept secret ever! Thanks for revealing what everyone already knew/suspected. A "content update" "sometime in the spring"? So, "something" is coming "sometime in the spring". WOW, glad I know THAT now. A "large expansion" "sometime in 2016"? Well, with that kind of "detail" I will just wait with baited breath. In short, that update said NOTHING. Just more rumors and hype and Bungie does not have the credibility anymore to use those tactics.

When the content drops I will look into it and see if it is enough for me to come back. Until then I will just randomly log onto the forums once a week to post thoughts that are self served and make me feel like I am putting in my 2 cents. Honestly, Destiny is a good looking well built game, but the way the content in the game has changed since day one including but not limited to the lack of new content combined with near zero replayability of old content, the continuous weapon/gear cluster-f*ck (could go on forever here), its severely lacking social ability, and Bungie's attitude (yes, you DJ) left me discouraged and disappointed. I hope these changes work out for them and us as gamers & a community.

They're not ready to release another full game yet, they are still loving the sheeple using microtransactions, and drop another pointless episode before destiny 2, The fleecing of the wallets continue....

1 ReplyI'd prefer if they had just told us WHAT to expect; PvE in general is a good thing, but I'd like to know whether I'm getting my hopes up for a Raid or preparing for a PoE-sized disappointment. We can always fall back on PvP, but that isn't a solution to the problem.

Well... Spring ends in June 19 so they can wait until mid June to release the next content.

They talked about this stuff right after they got back from break. I'm excited, Even if it's just revamping old raids of something like that I'm still really excited.
