Edit: this post was made before the free ghost announcement. The atrocious drop rate for CD, which is why they are giving out the free ghost, is not the point of this post
I also happen to think the free ghost is a classy move.
TLDwannaR:
Ghosts and class items should replace two of the artifact drops in challenge mode extra loot tables.
Everything else can be awarded there.
If we had a clear path to ALL the 320 items we need, we wouldn't have to depend on special events, and ppl would not be suiciding to get it.
Fireteams are actually dying for ghosts.
In the raid challenge modes, there is a clear path to 320 gear of every flavor except the ghost and class items.
Sure, there is a little RNG to which piece of 320 gear you get, but at least there is a 1 out of 3 or so chance, ie, warpriest drops a special or heavy, golgoroth drops armor, oryx drops a primary or helmet.
There is hope in this system that makes people want to play.
The same is not true for ghosts and class items. The totems chest gets you one shot at a ghost at a range of 300-320, and the daughters give you the same "wing and a prayer" shot for class.
There is very little hope in this situation, thus, people don't want to bother.
The availability of high level ghosts and items at a reliable and hopeful drop rate should not be limited to special events like SRL, Iron Banner, and Crimson Doubles.
You should not have a system in place causing high level players to enter crimson doubles, only to throw matches farming for postgame ghost drops. This is happening alot whether you guys know about it or not, and I think it's a real shame that your veteran high level players are having to resort to this tactic because of the lack of other options.
Never present a problem without a solution: Put ghosts in the warpriest challenge mode loot tables, and put class items in golgoroth's. Simple
To the guardians, bump if you agree. Bump with a suggestion. Either way,
Good luck getting your ghosts.

Just got mine by lowering my light to 294 before opening the chest by equipping the ogrinal ghost at 3 light lol. Now I'm off to join the 320 club.

Edited by Elockcid: 2/16/2016 1:28:36 PMBetween CDS (Crimson doubles suicide) and actually playing the game I'm gonna go out on a limb and say I played at least 100 games. No 320 ghost... Got a bunch of 317 and below 11, to be exact. I do in fact have a 320 from the raid. But wait there's more! I have no 320 helmet or class item!
-
3 RepliesBut how else would they get people grinding mediocrity? :)
-
Worked out well for me, got 316 ghosts. Already had 320, just wanted the event gear. Suicide pact ftw.
-
2 RepliesDo 7 games of Crimson doubles, or more and ACTUALLY try and win and you'll get a guarenteed 320 ghost after the event
-
4 RepliesI mean who cares because half the guys crying about it still hasn't hit 320 because even tho the have the ghost they still missing something else lol and I'm actually happy about this because yes I grinded for mines but guess what I been a 320 since last year so giving me another ghost helps me get another character to 320 all I need now is a class item (:
-
7 RepliesThe problem is much rather that the player base attributes max light level as being... Important or a real achievement. The RnG is programmed to make max light level incredibly hard to achieve. If you stop caring and see max level as what it is (a waste of time), your life will be happier.
-
18 RepliesJust to be totally correct, you do have the chance at a 320 ghost or class item from Oryx with having 20 moldering shards. But I'd agree it's rough to get those items at max light. But don't worry, soon 320 won't mean jack anyway.
-
Agree! Bump. A very nice suggestion.
-
2 RepliesBump,as for the suicides,Bungie clearly stated, you have to actually compete.
-
1 ReplyDon't worry about that anymore dude, these stupid mothe fukking pieces of shit are gonna raise the light level and the 320 won't be jack shit anymore, fukk them all boy.
-
Don't do so, if you do you will be penalized.
-
2 RepliesOr everyone could just not bother as the light level is getting a cap increase so 320 gear is going to be trash.
-
1 ReplyI think more people would play it legit if the reward rate was better. They're just being efficient. I played legit all day. Ran into 1 team that ToMed themselves. It was boring.
-
And the thing is, those who do not like PVP at all and will never play it are going to have a very small likelihood of every getting a 320 ghost
-
6 RepliesI have tried everything except lowering my light level before playing that around to get ghosts and see that all my 311 friends have 320 ghosts from the raid that's excatly what I'm going to do also my friend who's already 320 after only 10 weeks of playing has stopping playing cuase he's 320 come on bungie I've been playing since day one yet a new person can come in and get to be 320 in 10 weeks that's not on.
-
17 RepliesTalking of reliable drop rates: a 320 ghost drop on Crimson Days is somewhat around a 0.2 chance. I call that everything but reliable. These drop rates just lead to frustration and people afk-ing matches. Instead of giving us a defined way to a 320 ghost they lure players again into PVP and 99 percent of them most probably will have no 320 ghost by the end of the week.
-
1 ReplyI find it funny that the people who've played this since day one try so hard to fet the best stuff. Also, this even alone should prove to people KD isn't everything and stop using it as a valid argument or come back.
-
3 RepliesWhy do they die for it? Because actually playing yields no valid rewards for you effort. But let me guess, you think it's all the players fault for doing this? Hmmm pretty sure this wouldn't be an issue if the loot system wasn't broken. Even if the loot system was perfect, people would still do it. You can't stop it and it's obvious bungie can't either. Which is why they are giving it away for free. A poor attempt to rectify this issue if I might add.
-
4 RepliesBump for luck, lol but seriously ghosts, artifacts, and class items shouldn't have light attached to them, as neither item offer any other advantage. They are cosmetic, material or glimmer farmers, they can slightly improve your I/D/S, and account for where extra weapon XP and rep go. Unlike weapon and armor, they do not offer a boost against pvp or pve enemies.
-
7 RepliesIt's all pointless now that the light level cap goes up. Just like releasing the gally just before leaving it behind.
-
5 RepliesThe challenge mode drops a 310 and 320 artifact each week. I've posted repeatedly that this is not necessary, and ghost shells should replace artifacts every third week. Possibly ghosts from golgoroth, and class items at oryx. I have roughly 22 artifacts in my vault that are 320, and useless. I wish this idea would get more support from the community, and some recognition from bungie.
-
3 RepliesEdited by StinkyDelicious: 2/13/2016 12:26:44 AMI got my 320 ghost after killing oryx for the first time.
-
1 ReplyNever gotten a 320 class item or ghost.
-
1 ReplyI have played since the release and have only gotten one 320 shell from the raid, and zero 320 class items ever. I even grinded SRL to the max and nothing.
-
2 RepliesThey should have attached the 320 to the quest, and gave you a choice between the two new ghosts. One 320 per account like the SRL sparrow reward. I think they just want people to log matches played, or not for investors.
