It seems to me they're herding us into PvP so they don't have to do anything with the problems in current PvE (even though PvP has issues.)
If most of their workforce is concentrated on new PvE and there could be problems with it, they are reluctant to take anyone from that to update, improve current PvE or make PvE special events.
They could do something as simple as "defeat this boss on heroic mode and there will be a guaranteed 320 drop." And make that once per character.

They have been herding into pvp since house of wolves. No big deal only play what you want to. I have no desire to play doubles and so I won't. This is the most nothing "event" so far so they can keep it in my book.

The problem being that the more people that they try to shove into PvP, the more people are leaving. Those people are the ones that would have bought this game for the next ten years if they were treated like paying customers. I hope that other companies are watching as this circles the bowl and learns that the people that pay the bills deserve some respect. Yup...it's a two way street, but this started from the bungle end first. Respect is earned, not demanded. The attitude that we know what you want is beyond disrespectful and the whole thing needs to go up in a mushroom cloud so the other developers don't decide that it's a great marketing campaign.

I'm betting they're just scratching their balls, they obviously have all the DLC content they didn't release for Destiny 2, so either they're adding a lot of new content or they're just the biggest trolls to ever exist, I'm sticking to the latter.
