Y1 content needs to stay in Y1. Destiny's gametype is supposed to be about getting new and better gear every DLC. Not upgrading old gear (which is ironically better than new gear), people will use the same gear for everything, and there would be no diversity.

Diversity is shit, ass. Lets use Y2 weapons, which suck as you've said, just because???? If it not broke, fix it? This is how Y2 crashed.

PVE definitely doesn't have diversity.

Hahaha!! Diversity?? Funny! Lord high fixer is my favourite gun, there isn't a new gun that I can compare to it. Why should I use a different gun if that's the one I like to play!? I mean I still play the game and try out new stuff, but why can't I use the gun I like best!? The only place for diversity is pvp, the only place I can still use that gun, so that doesn't count!! And in IB and trials 90% use tlw or mida, so that doesn't count as well!! What about a dedication quest where you can pick one gun to work on it to get it to the new generation!!?
