Online Friend request etiquette? Is it a thing?

Don’t get me wrong, playing Online and making some online friends while you play Go nearly hand and hand. Well, give or take. But how can one go about it with out getting ignored, spammed, insulted, or worse, the ever disgraceful wrong person? What if that random player you just battled ageist/with then sent a request to or received one from, turns out to be a flaming turd? What if they just don’t have the same kinds of games in common with you, with the exception of the one you first encountered them in? Or What if they are of the pesky variety? The type of person that the Moment they see you log in they Invite bomb you. Or just randomly join in on you? Even if all you had time to or wanted to do was bum around for a little bit? The ever needy person that never lets a person have a moment of alone time, even if it leads to message after message to send them an invite or are constantly inviting you? Can you avoid situations like this? Probably. Will it happen more often than not? Likely. Can something be done to prevent it? Maybe? With Destiny, what is it that makes you send out a friend request? Or even accept one? And how do you go about it? Just send a blind request and hope for the best? Or are group finder sites the way most go? Removing the ones that don’t fit and keeping the few that do. What is it that we as Guardians do to gather more like minded people? I ask this only to see if there is indeed a Method to the Madness so to speak? So please, share some past experiences if you will. (Keeping in mind, I’m not after simply good or bad encounters. Or stories intended to stroke the Ego, insult some one, or bash an age group, just some examples of your personal experiences. Be it Good or bad.)

so here's how that goes go to LFG?, or use these forums, you join a group, you finish the activity and see what happens if people stick around and fool around like at the end of the Raid, listen to what they are doing and offer help or simply ask if anyone wants to do whatever it is you got to do within the game next you'll be surprised sometimes if everyone or someone quits right away and says nothing - that tells a a lot sometimes people will straight say that they are adding everyone to their friends list - that's fine I'm picky with who I add, I never add anyone after playing just 1 mediocre activity, then if I ever get invited to their party I listen too, if their friends are assholes - I'm out I also clear my list quick, if I don't play with you for a week(not online or simply not responding to invite) , from reset to reset = deleted I've had some bad experiences with squeekers, these little kids just never work out, especially when they are good at something and know it, don't waste your time here I also delete people who constantly spam invites while they clearly see you are doing something - send a message and ask what they want (while the Fireteam has to wait while I do this), only to get asked if there's room for 1. (while clearly sees the Fireteam is full) I've made a couple friends who I've never met and we've played together since last November almost daily, until we all just kind of stopped playing Destiny it's not like asking a female out on a date ... lol

  • The only people I play destiny with are 4 friends from real life, and a few that were looking for a clan.. So I sent them requests and just said drop me a message and we'll run some strikes so that way I could see what they were like.. Thankfully every random I've added has been fine and usually messages me to say can I join fireteam/can we do this

    • Tower requests are ignored. I used to keep low level armor in inventory to equip before I went to the tower. No one ever wanted a level 18 for a friend. But when your heads on fire it sorta gives it away. Play Destiny! With no message, delete. I'll join a random strike but not a raid. Random friend request is deleted. Just about all of my friends are made through groups and the clan. I'll delete ones from LFG once the mission is done. It keeps all that to minimum. Nothing better than being in a match and some twat keeps spamming you, covering up your radar. Can't they look and see that you're in a match and most likely don't have time to be screwing around chasing messages? If one of my friends is in a match I don't bother him, I figure he's neck deep in alligators and would appreciate being left alone.

        • My brother was doing PoE on our shared account. He danced, someone else danced and then they sent a friend request. We thought for a, and decided to add them. They haven't been annoying, they did join in some patrols and made the difference in a nightfall. I guess the idea of courtesy in these request is along the lines of not message spamming(which can be pretty annoying) and not trying to play with each other all the time. That way y'all are on good terms.

          • Few months ago a guy sent me a friend request and we played here and there not much... But when TTK came out he started to be butt head... After helping him with tk raid and doing vog for a random that help, will doing all that I help my friend get 3 more fragments and his ToM he had the balls to send me a message, saying I was never his friend and then delete me.. Lol funny because later it turns out I log off after helping other friend do a nf, he started a raid and was waiting for me to join. In all I don't know what ppl are doing at all times. If ppl on my friends list wants me to join they need to shoot me a line to ask.

                • I don't send one unless I LFG for a raid and they play good and I'll say "care if I add you in case my team needs a fill in?" If they sure I'll add; no response? I don't add. If you revs only friend me without at least including a message it'll be ignored
