• I know it keeps children from having seizures and reduces cancer cell growth. I know it gets you high. I don't care. I HAVE done it. So unless you have medical proof why anyone shouldn't smoke its, this debate is over.

  •
Marijuana also affects brain development. When marijuana users begin using as teenagers, the drug may reduce thinking, memory, and learning functions and affect how the brain builds connections between the areas necessary for these functions. Marijuana’s effects on these abilities may last a long time or even be permanent. For example, a study showed that people who started smoking marijuana heavily in their teens and had an ongoing cannabis use disorder lost an average of eight IQ points between ages 13 and 38. The lost mental abilities did not fully return in those who quit marijuana as adults. Those who started smoking marijuana as adults did not show notable IQ declines (Meier, 2012).

All this shows is that teens shouldnt smoke. I agree. I started smoking after college--post development, whats the argument against that?

  • There is a difference between thinking something is fine and thinking that you can control it. Underage drinking is illegal because of health implication. That doesn't stop people anyway

    http://m.cancerres.aacrjournals.org/content/66/13/6615.short http://m.cancer.org/treatment/treatmentsandsideeffects/physicalsideeffects/chemotherapyeffects/marijuana-and-cancer
Studies have long shown that people who took marijuana extracts in clinical trials tended to need less pain medicine. More recently, scientists reported that THC and other cannabinoids such as CBD slow growth and/or cause death in certain types of cancer cells growing in laboratory dishes. Some animal studies also suggest certain cannabinoids may slow growth and reduce spread of some forms of cancer.
Now, I have much better things to do with my time.

  • I never said marijuana doesn't have positive attributes. You claimed it has no negatives. Also you are arguing for medical marijuana. Which I'm all for if its in a safer form. There is no argument for recreational marijuana use. Just like there is no argument for recreational drinking or smoking.

  • There doesn't need to be an argument for recreational cannabis use in my opinion. You need to explain why it's okay to tell me what to do with my own body. If you can manage that then we can talk about it.
