This isn't going to be as long as the other post(I hope. Also pls go look at the other post pls).
Introduction
Remember back at E3 where Bungie said
All this is playable terrain?
Well, this is my idea of how patrols should've been, and hopefully how they will be in Destiny 2.
Basics
I think that there should be an endless patrol. It should stretch out endlessly, and as you level up, the farther you can venture. The "endless patrol" will be generated, similar to how worlds are in minecraft I guess.
Details
I will be using an Earth Patrol as an example. So on Earth, when you go into patrol, there will be lvl 1 mobs. The farther out you go, the higher level the enemies. Players would have the ability to set up one outpost at a time on each planet, and when they go to patrol, they can choose to spawn at their outpost or the default spawn. If a player wants to set up an outpost, they will have to clear out an area, possibly doing a special mission where they have to fight multiple enemies, like firefight in Halo. Enemies can not spawn near a players outpost, and if a player dies, they will respawn at their outpost or the default spawn unless a friend revives them. The farther out you patrol, the stronger the enemies until they become immune to you so you will not be able to patrol out farther. Every month or every few months the level cap will be raised so players can venture put further. Every week, the player will have to do one of those firefight things so that they don't lose their outpost.
Summary for lazy people
There is one default spawn for every player. A player can create an outpost and spawn there instead, but they will have to complete a special mission similar to a firefight each week so they don't lose their outpost. The farther away from the general spawn, the stronger the enemies until they become immune to you. If you die, then you either have to be resurrected by another player or respawn at the general spawn or outpost.
Extras
Players can buy things to put in their outposts. Outposts will basically be the players home away from the tower. This next paragraph will be bolded since it is a big point.
If you want to complete a story mission, strike, or Raid, you must accept the mission at the tower and walk there from the general spawn or an outpost if you are doing it with friends. All missions will be in the patrol. If you are raiding, the fireteam cap will be raised to six.
Conclusion
If this patrol system was put into place, then there would be a steady flow of content. That is my biggest point. It would also force more communication and teamwork between Gaurdians since dying sends you back to the start. Please discuss.
EDIT
So everyone is talking to me about how infinite may not be possible. The world may not be infinite, but I think it should be at least 100 times as big as the patrols we have now.

How about instead of having to exit to the main menu to go to a different planet, you could seamlessly be transported there at the press of a button.

1 ReplyIt wouldn't make sense if it were randomized a you went through it if the starting point remained the same. The starting point should change per instance and be random throughout. As if you were patrolling different parts of the planet each time.

1 ReplyIt would be amazing, but I don't think it's possible atleast the endless part

2 RepliesEdited by aidan: 1/29/2016 5:20:54 PMI think everything about this is great. While infinite may be impossible (even minecraft worlds, while very large, have ends and boundiares on console at least. I can't speak for PC as I've only played MC on console), it should be MUCH larger. Comparable to a minecraft world on console. Another thing is the having to protect your outpost weekly to keep it up and running. If this is to be done, I feel the best thing is to set it so if it did get taken over, retaking it would not be a huge chore for one thing, and retaking it would also set it back to how it was when you controlled it previously. I say this because some people don't play often, and making reclaiming an outpost/multiple outposts a giant chore would be seen as somewhat of a waste to those who only really have time to do that/a little more than that. Overall, love the idea. Finding and settling in a giant wilderness/forest darkened by trees covering the sun sort of area is kinda my dream for something like this. It would be so beautiful.

I agree.

This isn't really Bungie's style. They like to make a base smaller area and reuse it as much as they can. It's been the pattern since Halo 1. Though for another company or another game, this isn't an awful idea.

1 ReplyAssuming our consoles could run all of this properly, Bungie would never do this. That's a fact Jack ;)

2 RepliesEdited by ZoniCat: 1/29/2016 3:55:59 PMoh yah, let me just get my quantum-flux computer and my condensed silicon-crystal disc to run that.

4 RepliesIt wouldn't be impossible. See No Man's Sky

5 RepliesMinecraft and destiny are vastly different. Destiny maps are created and set up during production, they are made meticulously and because of this they look really nice and are very detailed. Minecraft uses algorithms to randomly generate maps based on basic terrains and concepts. The 8-bit graphics also makes this possible, trying to do that with an actual map would be almost impossible, and would require an entirely different game engine than the one that destiny currently runs off of. Something along the lines of No Man's Sky

3 RepliesI'm not sure destiny could pull off an infinitely generated world like Minecraft. Patrol should be much bigger though
-
I think patrol should have "zones" in it that are like war zone on halo 5. However enemy PvP players are determined by faction allegiance. So you have AI and other players (if a different faction) that you have to watch out for in this "zone." These zones would have special things that you can get or rep or whatever. Think The division darkzone - halo war zone - faction wars.

1 ReplyInteresting idea. I see where you're going with it, but it just doesn't sound like Destiny to me.

1 ReplyAt least I now know what TLDR means. Oh and I like the idea.

1 ReplyBigger world yea, bit infinite? No plz
-
3 Repliesyou can't make a infinite map in destiny unfornately.

1 ReplyIf this happens, everyone will set up LOTS of bases. Then there will be no enimies (if it is online.). If it's offline, then I'm cool with that. I think it should be more like PVZ GW 2 in the base, where you can jump in or not. This area of enimies should have randomly generated resources right where a boss spawns. Just an idea...

1 ReplyAn infinite map on a console can't happen (yet), but a randomly generated map and outposts seem like a good idea
