A non-whiney list of reasons Rift was the dumbest choice.

Every post about Iron Banner this week is whiney/complainey. How about we make a constructive argument pointing out why it's a horrible idea instead. Here goes: 1. Isolating solo players. Rift, much like bomb/capture the flag is a strategically oriented game that requires communication to be successful. Seeing as virtually NO ONE goes into team chat, you basically have to enter a match with a team of 4/5 to have a chance. Most of my friends are PvE guys, and they have a hard time with PvP. And most people aren't going to LFG a team. Not only that, you're isolating your loyal fanbase that has stuck with Destiny while their friends have given up for other games. 2. Lack of effort put into bounties. If you're going to make a significant change to the structure of a major event that everyone looks forward to, at least consider the bounties that give you the most experience. Top overall score shouldn't be in there. Once again, you can be peading the team, die, have someone else pick up the spark, score and you don't get top score. I get the weeklys are supposed to be difficult, but not impossible. 3. Scoring system. Considering the two previous points, the scoring the spark shouldn't be worth that much. I had 2 games last night where we were leading by 3k (17k-14k). We had two people lag out, they scored the spark twice and won. And the fact that you get points for just carrying the spark is ludicrous. As long as you can just grab the spark each time you don't even have to score it and you can win. 4. Spawn camping. In an objective based game, you need a large variety of spawn points, or at least spawn points with cover. Too many maps in the playlist let spawn campers just pick you off as soon as you spawn. It's ridiculous. I'm sure there are dozens of points that I've missed, but you get the point. It's almost as if someone just woke up Monday night and said "Rift?!?!"

  • i always wondered that if its an event why dont they put its own playlist for the week and have control, clash, and rift in that playlist. you choose which one you want to play and mostly everyone is happy (notice how i put mostly since this community is never satisfied)

  • I'm trying not to be whine but it's tough right now. I've dropped out of about ten matches in a row cause I keep getting spawned into matches that are losing by 5000+ points. When I get spawned into a winning game, I'm stuck against guys who have a kd that's double mine so I get almost no kills and hardly any points. Kinda pisses you off after a while.

    • If anything one player can totally change the momentum by themselves by simply rifting the spark, I just take it you probably suck at running spark...

      I had an alright time playing solo, I've been playing iron banner alone for over a year now. ( i prefer playing solo )

    • Majority of the time I spawn around my Rift area, and not to mention it is quote easy to get overall top score in Rift. Just keep picking up the spark and score, whilst evading world War three destiny edition of course.

    • Iron Banner has never been solo friendly for over a year now. Also, I like that you score so a lot from igniting the rift. If I was down by 6k in control IB I'd have no hope for winning, but the score can swing so violently in rift that you can be down by 6k and still win.

    • It's a battle for the spark and that is one thing I like. Rift is not Fare for solo players so bungie looks like the asses they have shown us they are. Ib Rift should've been capped at fireteams of 3 then solo players and teams of two could have a shot at a win. Rift solo against a team 6 is stupid and shows bungled didn't think about it or most likely having a laugh at the solo players expense. Bungled again

      • Won plenty of games playing solo with all solo randoms, so that argument is not valid. It does not matter wich game type is on, youll always have an advantage playing in a six man fireteam.

        • Biggest reason Rift is a bad decision is this, Bungie wanted to test different matchmakeing setups, in IT you always take a known good and compare to anything new....we have never done an IB Rift, so they really don't have anything to compare their data to.......compare Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday? Really? So stupid! !

        • L like Rift when I play with the clan against another fireteam of 6. Solo, however, is a frikkin' Nightmare. Partially because of the lack of a 'team', but more importantly, you keep joining matches that are already played. Did NOT enjoy playing solo in Rift and will also not level all my characters to Rank 5 as I had done in previous IB. If I have just 30min to get 2 games in (and no friends available), I do not want to have to go to LFG. That takes time. I also do not want to keep joining matches, where we are 5000 behind and missing one or more players. I believe Bungie should look into "quitting" matches and provide a stronger (negative) incentive for not quitting. Not only does the quitter screws his team, it also sets up the loop where solo players keep joining matches in progress. Idea would be to punish quitting with a 30min period where you gain no exp and loot. People who need to quit for real life reasons (of course that happens) would generally not be bothered by this, while it does throws a spike in the wheel of "serial" quitters.

          Rift is a team based game mode... Not everyone have a to team to run with.

          • I don't mind rift as ib. My main problem are the retarded ass teammates who camp our rift instead of rushing the spark.

          • Iron banner should be a game centered around team work. If your team is getting beaten by people calling their spawn then you stuck at crucible. They can not pick up rift from spawn. Bounties have always been too easy. This hasn't changed in rift. It it's extremely enjoyable. Rift was a great choice.
