Let us take a moment to remember one of the first creatures to say "Fuck the ocean, I'm going on land." Without this evolutionary pioneer, human life could not exist. This slimy, flat-headed creature was among the first to realize two things: first, the ocean is dangerous, and who wants to deal with that? Second: living in the same body of water where you shit is really fucking gross. These epiphanies allowed Tiktaalik to become the legend it is today. Here are some statistics about the tiktaalik:
·Tiktaalik lived roughly 365 million years ago. That makes it 300 million years older than the dinosaurs, and just slightly younger than your mom.
·The original Tiktaalik fossils were found in Canada. Scientists believe its diet consisted of maple syrup and "bacon" that was actually ham.
·Tiktaalik ranged from three to nine feet long, based on recovered fossils. Clearly it was compensating for something.
·The Tiktaalik was nicknamed "fishapod" because it bridges the gap between fish and four-legged animals. Another suggested nickname was "Phil Collins' solo career", because its existence is a slap in the face for supporters of Genesis.
·Tiktaalik was a notorious hipster. It walked on dry land before it was cool.
·Unlike other, fishier transitional fossils, Tiktaalik had wrist-like formations in its fins. This creature singlehandedly kept watch stores in business during the economic hardships of 365 million bc.
·Tiktaalik was also one of the first creatures to have a neck.
...What? You can't expect me do jokes for all of them. Seriously, what could I possibly say about a neck that would be even the least bit funny?
·Tiktaalik was believed to live in shallow waters, such as streams and ponds, and is thought to have actually spent very little time on land. Hey, baby steps. (BTW, I've started a petition to have the phrase "baby steps" officially changed to "tiktaalik steps", as the latter is less offensive to my fishapod ancestors. So, in conclusion, this innovator made it possible for life to exist as we know it.

This silly looking creature may not look impressive, but damn is it important and amazing. Thanks for making this thread, I hope some people who weren't previously aware of this creature read it.

Great quality post.

Take this post down. It's worthless, useless and most of all, it just wastes space in Offtopic. Do us all a favor. I can't believe people waste their time to write this kind of stuff. What are you trying to accomplish? Just think of all the things you could be doing right now instead of wasting your life and time writing this.

Can't wait for the Creationists to avoid this thread and continue living with their fingers in their ears.

How can it be 365 million years old if there's only 7 million people in the world
