No, seriously. I don't write fan mail, but I've been sorely tempted to write him some. Pushing forty, I'm not your average fanboy. Halo is what turned me onto vid games, and frankly; Mr. O'Donnell's music was a big part of bringing that alive for me. His music continued to become an important part (for me) of the subsequent games.
Then, ODST came out. Personally, I thought he did it again, with compelling, evocative music that really helped to set mood.
However, when I watched the "We are ODST" video I about lost it. I'm Scottish, and hearing the "Light of Aidan- Lament" remake with the bagpipes and darker, moodier tone nearly caused me to self combust due to sheer awesomeness.
If anybody from the music department from Bungie is reading this, PLEASE please include the full song on the soundtrack.
Thank you.

I have the Halo 3 soundtrack on my ipod, i love some of the more upbeat and loud tunes. The ODST stuff isn't really great unless you're in-game though. Favourite track - One Final Effort (near the end of The Covenanat, the really loud one)

@Monkey Yeah, High Charity Suite is fantastic. Especialy the first track, Rue and Woe. Chills! [Edited on 10.28.2009 3:47 PM PDT]

For some reason I really like Halo 2's music very much. My favourite must the High Charity Suite, it's simply beautiful. It's perfect when reading a book. Marty have done a really good job with the games, he deserves a medal. [Edited on 10.28.2009 3:36 PM PDT]

Compared to the Myth 1 and 2 soundtrack. The Halo Soundtrack is average. Yes. That's how good they are. [Edited on 10.28.2009 2:46 PM PDT]
Posted by: Gods Prophet One might say the ODST music was pure sax. On a side note, and I could be incorrect about this, but I don't think Marty or the Bungie guys had anything to do with the "We are ODST" music.
I see what you did there :D It occurred to me that neither Marty nor Bungie may have been involved with the ad or its music. However, it was SUCH a stroke of genius I hoped/assumed they were. I realize now its not on the soundtrack; but I fervently hope this version of the song becomes available for download in its entirety.
Posted by: Gods Prophet One might say the ODST music was pure sax.
Nice pun. :) Anyhow what I enjoy most about his music is the fusion between techno, rock, and classical styled music.
-
Never Forget and Unforrgotten are my favorites. They just have that perfect mood for what's going on in the story.
-
I less than three Marty. =) Yup, pure sax!
Posted by: steadman His music has all somehow managed to fit perfectly with the gameplay - who would have thought that classical/ orchestral music and zombies could blend so well. I don't like some of the ODST stuff though, what is with that trumpetty stuff?
It's trying to make it sound epic and classy.

Agreed.

Martin is awesome, its hard what he does
-
Ya its already been vote (in a survey i made for this post) that marty is the king (and or Queen) of in game music. i still cant play delta halo on halo 2 without stopping and listening to the music.
-
I love the track never forget, somehow and I really don't know how, that track is quite moving.
-
Marty's musical genius is one of the many reasons I keep coming back to Halo. I go to sleep listening to it :)
-
I'm suprised his leg humping army haven't arrived yet.... He is by far my favourite member of the bungie team though.
-
Marty Odonnels music is very fitting to the Halo universe he gets a good even mix of fast paced action music to mysterious mood setting music, he is without a doubt the finest in the game music industry.
-
Thanks for that Captain Obvious lol
-
i loved watching the music vidocs in all of the games
-
I like track 4 on Halo 3 Disc 2. Nice Floody theme. And all of the guitar/drums stuff. Marty does make some -blam!-in' music.

Still, it was a good piece and his work in the games has been unbelievably good.

Music is the biggest thing for me, what makes or breaks a game. And I love game composers such as O'donnel and jeremy soule.
