Open world PVP is always way better than arena in these types of games. Destiny's arena forced the game to become call of duty like and had players calling for nerfs to classes and weapons that were actually very lackluster and underpowered in PVE. This is something you don't worry about in open world PVP. People take open world as fun and intense but not as butt hurt and competitive as in games like CoD. You can enter a dark zone and simply carry on with your PVE mission but having to be wary of other real players makes for some extremely intense situations.
It also opens up a world of possibilities like deceit. As we see in one of the former Division trailers one can find someone, get tricked into thinking they're friendly and go off with them to explore, then later they open up a menu and go rogue from the party and that persons real friends pop out. Now you realize it was all a trap. That compared to destiny PVP... I'd rather destiny not even have PVP with the way it is. The Division is doing it right. Imagine destiny PVP in open world. Just think about what awesome abilities were scrapped from the game cuz they said (no that will be too powerful in PVP) They're limiting your abilities to underwhelming and mediocre supers. Otherwise nova bomb would have gravity that sucks enemies in, Ward of dawn would be mobile and able to shoot through from the inside. Titans are supposed to be tanks yet giving one a tiny extra health to survive one headshot got it nerfed. It's a joke compared to real tanks in other games that take multiple main boss attacks to the face consistently, and draw enemy aggro.
TL;DR if Destiny doesn't go open world PVP like the Division for Destiny 2 then abilities will always be underwhelming as well as weapons and we will continue to have a community of butt hurt teenagers, rather than great stories of how you tricked and robbed some other players in the Dark Zone

While it sounds cool, I'll wait and see how good it actually turns out to be. Since Destiny's launch there have been at least half a dozen games that were all supposed to kill Destiny. None have even come close. I'll make up my own mind, thanks.

1 ReplyHaving played the alpha, you guys are kinda overhyping the game. Yes it's solid, but there are gonna be some big problems that pop up once the masses are in the game world, if everyone remembers what happened with defiance.

2 RepliesI see people havent learned the lesson from watchdogs. Its the same thing all over again.

The division has better servers
-
2 RepliesNot sure I'm gonna like the idea of losing my loot by some random dude killing me but I won't judge the game until I see some game play or play it myself.

I don't think the division will be known for its pvp. The gun play is already lacklustre.
