Code

I bought a copy of Destiny Taken King Legendary Edition: PS4 on 11/27 for someones birthday in January. They opened it this past weekend and the disc works fine as well as the weapon upgrade code. When we tried using the code to unlock the expansion 1 & 2 and the Taken King through PSN it said the code was already used. The game was sealed for almost two months how could this have happened and what can I do to replace it?

    Your only option is to go back to the store you purchased it from and explain the situation, because you were effectively sold an unusable copy of The Taken King, they have to give you a replacement. You don't want a refund; refund is asking for your money back entirely and giving them the game back entirely. You want a replacement so you can get one that does work.

    • I would tell you to return it to the retailer for a refund under grounds of faulty merchandise. However, since you made the purchase so long ago, you may have exceeded the time limit for getting a refund. All you can do is try: contact the retailer you made the purchase from and tell them your scenario. If you are still within the refund or exchange period, they should be able to help you (it may take some insistence and escalation). If you're outside of the refund or exchange period, I doubt they will help you. Why the code was used is unknown. It is possible that someone, somewhere, managed to guess the code. Should you attempt to buy Destiny TTK again, going digital should circumvent this possible problem.

    • This might be the work of a "con" (can't know for sure) There has been trouble in the past whenever Bungie released events for codes and other things like that, but a while ago people on Reddit were able to find out the codes through a random number generator. This might be another case, especially if your friend waited this long to use it. Again, don't know if that's the case for sure or if it's an error of some kind, but as to a solution you might be able to plea for a refund As of anything else I don't know, sorry :(
