Why do we kill Oryx in the mission and then again on the raid?
On the story mission it looks like he 'takes' himself but I m not sure.

4 RepliesSword logic. Every time he dies he comes back stronger unless killed in his throne room. We killed him in his throne room in the raid but he isn't dead still. He lives inside the ToM. Whenever you use the last round in the mag it symbolizes the bargain with the worms. Feed me and I will make you stronger. The touch of mercy is meant to symbolize the immortality part. Kill stuff to feed me and I will make you immortal. The Tom contains the soul of oryx.

Your right,he takes himself and goes to his throne world
-
1 ReplyHe is in the "real" realm and when you kill him he gose to the "acendent" realm where you kill him again.
-
In mission he is defeated not killed

1 ReplyEdited by RobbyC1104: 1/19/2016 1:14:17 AMBasically his sword was called willbreaker,so,hypothetically speaking,it's possible it gave him the power to take. He took the power from the sword, ripped open his chest revealing the God worm akka, and fed it to akka to regain strength. He then returned to "his realm"(which by the way doesn't mean alternate dimension) and prepares his lords and champions for your arrival where you killed him once and for all Edit: holy crap I forgot this I don't believe it. THIS IS PURELY FROM OBSERVATION AND THEORY! I have a file on Xbox and PlayStation,I stopped playing on ps3 which is what I did grimiore hunting on so I can't go back and do research into the cards. So unfortunately for the cannon answer look elsewhere

1 ReplyEdited by Amadis001: 1/19/2016 1:15:18 AMMah nishtanah halaylah hazeh? On all other nights we kill Oryx only once. But on this night, we kill him twice. Why?
-
You kill his physical form in the story mission. In the raid you kill his immortal form and finish the job.
-
We killed him in our dimension, then in his throne world so he can't be resummoned
-
When TTK came out, people were confused because some people didn't do the raid and defeat crota. So why was oryx mad? This way, people who wanna raid can raid and people who don't don't have to and can still continue the story
-
Becuase he's not dead
-
1 ReplyWhy didn't Oryx make in appearance in The Dark Below during the final sword fight with Crota ? Sounds like a deadbeat dad to me.

7 RepliesOk, here's a better explanation: Throne worlds Throne worlds are like the hive's own dimension. Thy can travel between the throne world and reality. However, the hive can only be permanently killed in their throne world. Oryx has been killed, perhaps, millions of times in the real world. But he has never been defeated in his throne world, so the Taken King lives on. Killing him in the real world was a soft blow. Killing him in his throne world defeats him permanently. Same thing happened with Crota. Yes, we may have destroyed his soul in the real world, but we had to travel to his throne world to put a complete end to him.

It's in the grimoire
-
I always thought that Oryx takes the energy from that big sword of his, and escapes into another dimension or by teleporting to somewhere else. Then apparently he returns to the ship where we chase him down and kick his butt around a second time. I can't wait to see the mark he makes in the atmosphere of Saturn when he impacts it.

First kill is for single player mode, sexond for multiplayer group.
-
Just like how we didn't kill Crota in the story mission. We stopped him in our realm but he lives on in his realm untill he is killed in his realm.
-
He takes himself in the story mission. That is why he is so big in the raid. His Taken form is just a larger version of himself.
-
You didnt kill him in the story he was laughing at you.....
-
It has something to do with the hives "sword logic" correct me if I'm wrong.
-
The first time we kill him as a man, then he becomes a woman and we kill him again. Simple.
-
He never dies he leaves and becomes taken then in raid he crystallized him self just like crota and other gods around the dreadnought
-
Read the grimoire scrub then you shall understand.

We kill Oryx in his own Dimension in the raid which kills him for good. While in the story it's just his body.
-
In simple terms in the main story mission you kill his body, in the raid you destroy his soul.

1 ReplyWell, first I'd like to say in a sense you're correct, he Takes himself. But also because Oryx is an Ascendant Hive, this means that he has what is called a Throne Realm. Due to complications in his past (his sister tricking Crota into cutting into the Vex universe and letting them into Oryx's Throne) he actually turned his Throne inside out and into the physical realm, later building the Dreadnaught around it. SO! To kill an Ascendant Hive, and I mean kill kill, you have to kill them in their Throne. So when we originally defeated him he retreated to his Throne. Defeating him there sealed his death as true.
