Because a lot of guys are super thirsty and don't know how (or don't want) to deal with it in a mature way. Online gaming is a very easy way to meet women, but an awful way to form the connection guys are looking for (whether women are looking too or not). I dare say most of the time it becomes quickly apparent to the guy that it's not gonna happen and hormones become salty. You know what happens after that. Either that, or the guy got subjected to one too many nuclear shutdowns in real life, and wants some sort of messed up revenge.

I used my girlfriends account today to rank her from 262 to 299 and got 12 friend requests while in tower and random messages from people. She has 6 friends on her list from my clan and that's it but all these guys were like what's up. She has a obvious girly gamer tag hence how they knew I guess.

When a tell a girl she isn't that attractive she takes her clothes off to prove me wrong. When I tell a girl she is beautiful, she thanks me and tells me it is so nice to a have a friend like me. Most girls go for a-holes, girls have created an incentive for being an a-hole.
