Anyone else encountering this. I did recently change internet provider hoping for a better internet experience (I live in a rural area so my options are limited) and am now on satellite internet. Previously I was on high speed antenna which led to horrible times in PvP and nearly every 10 minutes having a baboon error. Now I am green bar and can play without being booted constantly, but when I go to any public area (Tower, Reef, or Patrol) there is no one else there other than NPC's and enemies and when I tried to go into Crucible or Strikes the matchmaking found no one for me after prolonged waits. I don't mind soloing strikes but it is getting lonely dancing by myself in Tower.
Edit: I am on PS4.

3 RepliesSatellite internet will be even worse (usually) than line-of-site antennae. Both are very high latency options that are subject to packet loss, which is why you are seeing baboon errors. I don't think you will be able to play games that require a premium connection, like Destiny, with either of those options. Regular WiFi isn't even recommended. While it is not the greatest, do you not have a DSL option available? At least a land line connection would give you a better latency and usually no packet loss, even if the speed may be lower. Usually if you can get telephone, you can get DSL. Just something to check on. Out of curiousity, if you run a detailed network report on the console itself, what kind of numbers is it giving you for UL/DL speeds, packet loss, and latency (ping)?

2 RepliesHello BRC37, What is your PlayStation NAT type? Type 1, 2 or 3.

2 RepliesYou may want to reset your router and clear your cache: https://www.bungie.net/en/Help/Article/12539 And take a look at bungies network troubleshooting guide. Recommending a wired connection as well. https://www.bungie.net/en/Support/Troubleshoot?oid=12915

I'm sorry to hear that you're having connection issues. Sometimes these are intermittent and just happen once, or for a short period of time, due to network conditions between you, Bungie, and other players. Other times it can be related to your home network, other devices connected to your network, or the connection with your ISP. Take a look at our (comprehensive!) Network Troubleshooting Guide to learn how to get the optimal network setup for playing Destiny. Even when other games seem to be working fine we've found that Destiny may require a few tweaks to your network to get the best performance.
