If you have a 1.0 kdr...

You're above average, it doesn't matter what anybody says, they're not thinking about it. Let me explain, for every single kill, there is a death, which gives a global 1.0 kdr. After that factor in suicides, that leads to a slightly negative kdr globally. So if you have a 1.0 kdr, you're above average statistically speaking, don't let anyone tell you different. Also, people that want to bring your kd into an argument that has nothing to do with anything are grasping at straws because they can't make a legitimate argument against something you say. Edit: There are people saying that this is to simple, that the mean average needs to be looked at. Basically if you take every players individual kdr, and then average all of them, I would be interested in knowing that number of bungie would like to do the work to get it, but I would still think this would work out to be slightly less than 1, if someone can explain how that may not be true I would like to know Edit: Adding this quote from Sixclicks, if this is accurate then it's still very close to 1
To add to my other reply and answer your question in your edit, the average KDR is actually 1.049424. You can get this number from Guardian.gg by looking at the average KDR of each subclass and the subclass distribution percentages. So these are the numbers: Sunbreaker: 1.06 kdr, 18.63% Stormcaller: 1.04 kdr, 8.76% Gunslinger: 1.09 kdr, 13.98% Defender: 1.01 kdr, 2.14% Striker: 1.03 kdr, 8.6% Bladedancer: 1.11 kdr, 11.37% Sunsinger: 1.01 kdr, 12.98% Voidwalker: 1.05 kdr, 8.27% Nightstalker: 1.01 kdr, 15.26% So what you do is simply weight each kdr by subclass distribution percentage and then add it up. So you get: (1.06 x .1863) + (1.04 x .0876) + (1.09 x .1398) + (1.01 x .0214) + (1.03 x .086) + (1.11 x .1137) + (1.01 x .1298) + (1.05 x .0827) + (1.01 x .1526) = 1.049423
Edit: it has been explained to me that what I'm looking at is a global kill per death ratio, as opposed to a kill death ratio per player, which in fact may be above one if you were to take each individual players actual kdr, and average them in that manner you would wind up with a completely different number. I can see how that would work, and I would be very interested in seeing the actual average kdr per player, on a global scale. However I still say anything that is positive is good, you help your team in terms of killing more than you die on a consistent basis.

  • The ppl with the highest k/d's are the ppl who sit in the back of the map and snipe or who use their sniper as a primary. That playstyle is going to lend to a higher k/d but if you're more of a run and gunner, you're gonna have more deaths. Me personally, I'd rather have a game with 20 kills and 20 deaths rather than sit in the back of the map and g0 10-2.

      • I guess I'm above average. My hunter is my main, then Titan followed by my Warlock which I rarely play pvp with anymore except trials

      • Kd honestly means squat. Ppl dont realize how bungie puts teams together. Half or 1/3rd of your team is guaranteed to be below average. Same for the other team. Then its not how well you do. But how good those other guys do essentially. Thats why when u push for objectives or kills the rest follow. The pvp game loses the kd mentality this after. You ever wonder when u get other teammates who are decent and you just dominate the game? Its because something happen with the team selection process and you actually got other ppl who are just as good as u and u end up destroying the other team. But u see in the score board at the end that at least 2 or 3 guys on the team did well enough to jot go negative but the others tanked? Or that one guy with over 2.5k points but still loses. Its cause they couldnt carry the others. Essentially bungie forces ppl to want to play together to avoid this. Problem is more times then not teams will face other randoms and win constantly. Instead of teams vs teams it finds them randoms. I dont understand this logic anymore and coming from a vanilla player its getting harder and harder to keep playing or wanting to go in to destiny 2.

I like where you are going with this. I think there need to be an average of the amount of suiciding that is going on to subtract from the 1.0. But in order to isolate the suicide number, Bungie is going to have to provide a new category of deaths. Also, you would have to factor in the misadventures that randomly happen for no apparent reasons, cyber bullies smashing you agaisnt walls in strikes over and over again so you can't open up doors because you need to scan, etc. There are a ton of numbers you would have to look at, but I would agree that the average KD would be less than 1.0.

      • And the people with high kd's make the average even lower. I would say average is around .77 (Yes I pulled this number out of nowhere)

        • Don't forget that some people play crucible trying to complete specific bounties/missions. I'm not that good at crucible normally, but if you add in all those games of me trying to get imprecation/sword/last word/grenade/and melee kills and nothing else, it'll bring down my average. Didn't think this needed to be said, but people should not assume every game you give your all and is indicative of how good you are. Some games you just like to have fun and dick around

Wow never thought of it that way. Thanks for the perspective. When I'm playing to win, I average 1.3, but I dick around a lot and do stupid quests and test weapons that bring it down.

          • Depends if you mean that 1.0 KDR is the mean or the median KDR. I would have to guess that the median KDR is probably closer to 0.80 +\- .05. The mean KDR mathematically seems like it would have to be this: TOTAL KILLS RECORDED IN CRUCIBLE --------------------------------------- TOTAL DEATHS RECORDED IN CRUCIBLE + TOTAL "SUICIDES" This probably puts the mean KDR at 0.95, but that's not likely the true distribution of KDR.

            • they did release the averages a while back, year one, and the mass majority were below a 1.0 kd, if i do recall. so technically, yes, youre above average. but i dont really consider players with a 1.0-1.2 above average, they typically play mindless. all that player is realistically doing is getting a kill/dying/getting a kill/dying

K/D doesn't mean much in Durpstiny really. Although if you can stay at or above 1.0 your good, 1.9-2.0+ and your really good and still manage to play the objective. Although if your 3.0+ then your just a lousy camper that doesn't feel like playing the objective or helping your team much other than kill stealing. EDIT: Maybe there are a few good 3.0 K/D players that can play the objective while being a slayer, but most of the time they camp, kill steal or use their supers for their kills.

No sense in talking about this anymore, skill used to matter in this game but those days are gone, crucible means absolutely nothing now Just a game of who can get jewed less

When going into the crucible you should be breathalyzed, when the results show "fooked" it should go into a "fun" stats box and when it shows "slightly fooked" it should go into the competitive stats box. Through vigorous research and testing those are the only two "readings" that are required. 100% of the test group were under the influence 100% of the time. • Stats in Destiny mean zip, zilch, zero. To have stats mean anything there needs to be a clear line drawn between casual/practice play and competitive.
