If you have a 1.0 kdr...

You're above average, it doesn't matter what anybody says, they're not thinking about it. Let me explain, for every single kill, there is a death, which gives a global 1.0 kdr. After that factor in suicides, that leads to a slightly negative kdr globally. So if you have a 1.0 kdr, you're above average statistically speaking, don't let anyone tell you different. Also, people that want to bring your kd into an argument that has nothing to do with anything are grasping at straws because they can't make a legitimate argument against something you say. Edit: There are people saying that this is to simple, that the mean average needs to be looked at. Basically if you take every players individual kdr, and then average all of them, I would be interested in knowing that number of bungie would like to do the work to get it, but I would still think this would work out to be slightly less than 1, if someone can explain how that may not be true I would like to know Edit: Adding this quote from Sixclicks, if this is accurate then it's still very close to 1
To add to my other reply and answer your question in your edit, the average KDR is actually 1.049424. You can get this number from Guardian.gg by looking at the average KDR of each subclass and the subclass distribution percentages. So these are the numbers: Sunbreaker: 1.06 kdr, 18.63% Stormcaller: 1.04 kdr, 8.76% Gunslinger: 1.09 kdr, 13.98% Defender: 1.01 kdr, 2.14% Striker: 1.03 kdr, 8.6% Bladedancer: 1.11 kdr, 11.37% Sunsinger: 1.01 kdr, 12.98% Voidwalker: 1.05 kdr, 8.27% Nightstalker: 1.01 kdr, 15.26% So what you do is simply weight each kdr by subclass distribution percentage and then add it up. So you get: (1.06 x .1863) + (1.04 x .0876) + (1.09 x .1398) + (1.01 x .0214) + (1.03 x .086) + (1.11 x .1137) + (1.01 x .1298) + (1.05 x .0827) + (1.01 x .1526) = 1.049423
Edit: it has been explained to me that what I'm looking at is a global kill per death ratio, as opposed to a kill death ratio per player, which in fact may be above one if you were to take each individual players actual kdr, and average them in that manner you would wind up with a completely different number. I can see how that would work, and I would be very interested in seeing the actual average kdr per player, on a global scale. However I still say anything that is positive is good, you help your team in terms of killing more than you die on a consistent basis.

  • My overall Kdr on my hunter is like 1.53 I think and that's just because I didn't know what I was doing I'm vanilla destiny.. Now I stay around 1.78-1.94 from week to week.. I first started trials with a 1.08 Kdr now it's 1.35.. Kd doesn't matter really.. I beat ninja with no L 2 weeks ago with Zamtv.. Ninja had a 3.4 trials Kd and Zamtv had a 2.4 and the other guy had 1.9.. Kd doesn't matter

  • 1.6 in trials. My crucible kd is a joke because it's a seldom thing for me. Crucible fun time. Trials is serious until I go flawless, after that I don't care.

Wouldnt the KDR be below 1.0? Because, yes for every player kill, there is a player death. But when you take into acount suicides, it adds an unanswered death to the equation. No one gets awarded the kill for that players death. That's just my thinking so, the "average" KDR could be anywhere from 0.5- 0.99 using that equation. If you have a logical arguement, enlighten me. Otherwise, piss off.

      • n3tworm ur completely right if everyone played a game and got a 1.0 kd everyone would have the same so if someone has a 5.o kd someone in the enemy would of had to die 5 times so average is 1.0kd

      • On your own, you could play 10 matches with 12 players. Write down k/d for all players in 10 matches...see what the average is. Small sample size but might go a long way to prove your point or at least answer your question.

        • But the matchmaking is skill based so k/d doesn't really mean anything. The only thing that will mean something is your csr or whatever it's called.

Things like test weapons in crucible, internet connection, needing to stand in a zone in control to capture it, bounties which change they way you otherwise play, playing alone or with very weak or strong teammates all come into play along with many other factors as well. private matches might be the best way to tell if they ever happen then you have gamebattles or mlg tournaments to better decide but Destiny wasn't ever really suppose to be about this side of gaming in the first place. that having been said I would welome private matches for clan battles.

I consider myself average and have these stats: Titan: 1.21 - 493 Wins Warlock: 1.15 - 258 Wins Hunter: 1.35 - 337 Wins It's not hard to get over 1.0, just don't do stupid things and keep your head down.

Player A kills players C and B 500 times each and players C and B kill player A 1 each So to recap Player A:1000 kills 2 deaths= 500 kd Player B:1 kill 500 deaths=0.002 Player C: 1 kill 500 deaths=0.002 500.004 divided by 3 equals 166.668 This is an example showing that the kd doesnt have to be 1.0 (This assumes that there was no suicides)

                • Honey Badger don't even care about your K/D. Honey Badger cares about your K/D in past 30 days. Each of us is getting better, learning what loadout works, learning maps as they are released. Yeah, I will check your overall K/D, but what I really want to know is how are you playing *lately* I didn't even bother to play meta when everyone else was using vex, thorn, felwinter's. Then when I started to do that my K/D went from .44 per game to avg of 1.2 per game. If I use Mida (which I don't like the *feel* of) I can get a 3+ K/D. That says something about the inbalance in weapons. Weapon loadout>skill in Destiny. No I am not calling for nerfs... sooooo sick of nerfs... just stating that if your K/D is bad, trying playing the current meta and see what happens.

                  • I like doing bounties! GET A BLINK STRIKE KILL FROM BEHIND "Sneaks" around trying to get the game to register that I'm actually behind the player I just back stabbed with blink strike. .001 k/d for the 3 matches it takes to do that bounty. WIN!!!!! Leave no bounty undone.... Or Actually give a shit about your k/d.... Either way you're having fun right?

                      • The best crucible matches for me are the ones that go down to the wire....dominating is fun, but a great match up means you're going to die...if both teams have the 12 best players in Destiny PVP, I believe the overall for that match will be closer to 1.0...with the winning team above 1.0 to edge....granted points for how enemy die can turn the tide (extra if you kill the enemy lead), a fairly even match up would be trading kills.

                        • I guess a lot of it is semantics. My hunter has a 1.0 overall and shows as top 50% on destinytracker (Warlock is 1.04 and top 45%, titan is 0.85 and top 72%). Based on that, being 1.0 seems to be right around average. However, I'd argue that my skill level is still well below average in PVP FPS games. The only reason my stats (at least with my hunter and warlock) are in the average to slightly-above average range is that Destiny pulls in a lot of other people like myself that hate PVP and completely avoid PVP in other games. This causes an influx of easy prey for anyone that has any skill -- or gives people like me that lack skill, but have played enough to gain some tactical advantages over others that are at my low skill level, some easy kills. So, I'd argue that unless your KDR is extremely high, you might not be as great as you think you are. Your stats are just padded by the fact that Destiny pushes PVP scrubs like myself to play it even though I avoid it like the plague in every other FPS game that I play...
