What's so good about fatebringer?
I'm a year two player so I am not judging the fatebringer because I have no authority to do so. But I would love to know why it is so special. Cuz I see it as a regular legendary hand cannon. What did it feel like to make it so popular

Mhmm fatebringer and VoC were my jam. The OG Blackhammer also puts the spindle to shame. Sole boss destroyer. The tanks were insanely easy with it. With a option of FB/VoC paired with the BH. You could run an exotic heavy(most likely gally) It was fun to feel overpowered in PvE for a bit. I wish instead of taking primary burns away they would have just added them to exotic primaries only. It'd be cool if others could feel how awesome it was.

Special now? It isn't because they capped the light level. In Year One it was king because it hit damn hard and was a headshot machine that just so happened to blow you up and the two Dregs you rode with because of Firefly. And reload wasn't a problem because of Outlaw. Oh yeah, and arc burn on a primary. Probably the most useful burn. People ran Templar 50+ times, over and over again, just to get one.

That thing is a head shot machine and the firefly explosions were huge because of the high impact. Ammo capacity, field scout, and range have all been nerfed. I guess bung knew how perfect it was and feel like people who play their game should have to suffer.

In year one, the fatebringer was the only hand cannon that had firefly. It was truly one of a kind.

Edited by MindEntropy: 1/14/2016 4:48:08 PMAlso used to have a 13 round mag with field scout. That was nerfed. Arc damage. Outlaw. Near instant reloads on a hand cannon. Firefly. Trash mobs are done. On arc burn I rarely used my special or heavy (which was typically thunderlord with my arc spear with surplus field scout and firefly). Fatebringer was one of the best primaries to ever exist in this game aside from the primary my Hunter has equipped. ;)

I think it's because that The Legend Himself guy soloed Crota using it. It seemed to blow up in popularity after that. Almost no one talked about it when VOG was the end game.

1 ReplyIt was a super balanced HC that rewarded good aim. Felt great to use. Rare enough drop from difficult enough boss that people were excited to get it. Firefly and outlaw, plus a big mag and high impact (base stat, always field scout not explosive rounds perk)meant you could shred hordes of enemies and reload almost instantly. Plus a lot of the tougher enemies year 1 had arc shield so even when there was no burn it took them down quickly. When there was a burn on it took the piss. It's one if this things you had to use, and really had to use in year 1 not year 2, to fully appreciate. It was pretty much as good as a handcannon could get in year 1. VoC was as good as a scout could get. And they didn't use an exotic slot. That why people loved them so much. And why people were disappointed with most other raid weapons since.

Year 1 had so many good primary weapons, but the hype and the love people have for the game's first raid (also overrated) made this HC so popular and as a result, overused and overrated. Same reason the scout rifle vision of confluence is overrated. Still, it is a great HC. Firefly is good for mobs and outlaw significantly increases reload speed after a precision kill. Good stats, large mag size and arc burn. It's good but also overhyped. Firefly is an overrated perk. The first part of Crota raid was one of the few places where firefly actually had some good use. Other than that, I guess people just loved to see an enemy explode after it was killed. Yeah, it feels great, but it doesn't make the weapon "special". My favorite HC was Word of Crota.

Outlaw and firefly on a handcannon with a good clip size. No other handcannon had firefly. It also had arc dmg which was nice, as in y1 burns for nf had more dmg increase.

Back in the day it was the equivalent of 320 attack, and in addition it could easily 1 shot most enemies with a head shot and kill the rest within one mag. It was op as -blam!-.

Because u could clear mobs of hive with one our two had shots fatebringer was def my fav handcannon in year one and probably still my most used hand gun since i havent been playing to much in y2 cause there have been no y2 dlc for me to buy lost interest before i even reached 320 y2 has been such a let down for me i was in love with this game now its like seeing an ex at Walmart when i make eye contact i run the other direction lol

It had arc burn and firefly. Also outlaw it was the perfect PVE hand cannon. Plus hand cannons used to have the range of scout rifles in year one. It was also super rare to drop so people would play VOG over and over just for the chance to get it.
