I don't know how recently. It's either on a weekly or monthly basis, but that's how many people have played in crucible recently. That's only in PvP. I can't tell you the Pve numbers because you can't really track them.
Destiny has between 500,000-800,000 people play crucible on a daily basis. This is coming from a year old game, actually it's 16 months old now. It's original competitors, evolve, advanced warfare, hardline, etc, are all far gone. Now, it's competing with a whole new generation of AAA games, and doing fairly well. It's still one of the most popular games on twitch and has one of the biggest console game subreddits. The forums here seem to think the taken king ruined Destiny and now the game is dying. Do those look like the numbers of a dying game? A game that has a playerbase in the millions? As a hardcore player of Destiny, I will admit that I am running out of content to do. That doesn't stop me from having fun with my friends when the time is right. And where people have stopped playing due to their journey ending, others have just begun. Your opinion aside, Destiny is an extremely popular game. It's not really dying and it's far from being dead. I don't know why some of you people think it is.
Here's the Source: https://guardian.gg/en go to the browser version and you'll see the numbers
Edit: The numbers don't lie. Deny it all you want, their daily playerbase is in the hundred thousands for crucible and may be even more altogether. That's a fact
Edit: I just checked Guardian GG again, the number is now 6,182,761...it's increased
Edit: it's out of individual accounts, not guardians
I don't know why everyone mentions the 24 mil registered.
unless they just like to make some poor arguments.
here I will help some
lets assume half (12) mil is on ps3/4 platforms.
if you look through some achievements you see that only 57% got the achievement for decrpyting 25 engrams. that would mean roughly 6 mil has never decrpyted 25 engrams...25..that happens at what? level 10?
34.9% have earned Vanguard rank 1. and 26.8% earned Crucible rank 1.
that would mean only about 4,80,0000 got vanguard to rank 1. and 3,240,000 got crucible rank 1.
idk about you, but I don't count someone that doesn't have vanguard rank 1 as someone "playing the game"
they bought the game and installed it, so they count towards the "24 mil" but not towards the game itself.
And I could look at any game like this.
only 96.8% of Playstation people that bought fallout have got the achievement Enter the Wasteland, which is really the first thing you do in the game...if you assume 12 mil bought that game as well that would mean 360,000 didn't even play the very first part.
and it just gets worse from there
Failure_
Edit: Yes, I know matchmaking's a bitch, but hasn't it always been?

So that's like 300-500 people still playing the game. Impressive number when it sold over 20mil ROFL.
-
4 Consoles 500-800k Players daily, wow I'm astonished... Meanwhile on League...
-
1 Reply"Recently", "monthly or weekly".... Soooooo what exactly do these numbers tell us if we don't even know the time span they are in?
-
2 RepliesHundreds of thousands in crucible yet it takes me 4 minutes to find at least 2 people for rumble, and more for clash/control. Sometimes it kicks me out of matchmaking since it can't find anyone. Oh, and I'm on both consoles btw

Edited by YahyaTV: 1/12/2016 6:03:55 AM6.2 M is the total guardians since launch of TTK, which seems about right since PS trophies has The Taken King trophy (pretty much unmissable trophy) at 21% , which gives us roughly 30M total registered players, considering when the 25M figure was released, the 30M figure seems plausible. If you look at the combined stats for SRL across Xbox and PS, the figure is less than 1M. Let's face it, pretty much everyone with TTK played at least one race. Call of Duty, Fallout, Halo, SWBF combined took away about 80% of the Destiny players. I'd say 1M active players seems to be more accurate representation of the currently active community, of which the majority play daily. Chances are when new content drops, a proportion of these people will return, this to me suggests the game isn't dead, nor dying, its reached stability, most of the 1M players will stick it out because they are casual players that have enough content to keep them satisfied or addicted players who will grind endlessly (I've been there). Also DestinyLFG numbers have dropped from 12K on launch of TTK, to hovering around 3K at present, that's a reduction of 75% which ties in well with the fact that ~80% gave left.

Pfft who plays fallout on ps4. Get on PC if that doesn't work get it on Xbox. You really want to see those mods
-
The game is not dying and has never so far being in a position to do so. People lose their friends to other games and then come to the forums to cry and declare the game is dead. Far from it the LFG's and Facebook pages are always buzzing with activity. People keep creating fan art and cosplay. The Destiny fandom is well and alive and most fans agree that TTK was a success and a right step in the direction for what we want the game to be. Even the haters unknowingly are keeping the game alive just by talking about it in a negative fashion.
-
Not surprised, there's always folks on lfg.
-
Ahaha. Bahahahaha. Hahah. No.
-
Now we just need private matches and to drop old gen and it will probably be more comp. than halo
-
Lets be honest here those numbers are since ttk launch thats not very many and games the past few years have been shit so with lots of potential big hitters coming out this year we will see. Rainbow six has had a huge following since launch surprisingly after vegas series crashed with how shitty 2 was but the division has endless hype and no mans sky coming out. This year might be the destiny killer but we will see if these games actually deliver

5 RepliesEdited by Ashikon: 1/12/2016 2:36:59 AMRemember always believe everything on the internet wether it be outdated or fake we should always believe it. Besides Destiny started out with 25,000,000 players, 6,000,000 players are nothing. That just shows how Destiny has "Rich Cinematic Storytelling" and was Fun and a Great game.
-
Just a quick pro quo here, in the FAQ's it mentions the stats are from every match since the Taken King Launch. So that would include every player that has played Crucible since TTK's launch. That there is 6 million total people who have played Crucible since TTK's launch does not seem like a very high number to me compared to initial launch numbers. It may still be within acceptable levels of participation to bungie and allow the game to develop further and continue to be profitable, but there is no denying a significant decrease in player base since launch. AGAIN I am not saying "The game is dying" 'DESTINY SUX GTFO LOLZ" I am saying that there is a pretty strong argument for that destiny has lost around 2/3 of its player base since launch. This may be because of a disappointing game, but I think it is more so that the games appeal is targeted towards a certain type of gamer, and many may have found this game to not be to their liking for the types of games they enjoy playing.
-
576,141 tracked in the past day That's pretty impressive. I'm assuming they're tracking players who play PVE too.
-
9 RepliesThey count every player every round. If you play 10 rounds - that counts as 10. They are counting each guardian's participation in each event. If you believe those are individual PEOPLE then you are the target of the PR statement.
-
Nice find.
-
I turned it off while waiting for a control game, I wonder how much time I've spent in orbit
-
I waited 30mins last night for a match in the daily crucible. Nothing. I went to bed instead
-
6 million over the course of several consoles. And you're arguing for it to go against Evolve, which was a colossal failure at launch, and Advanced Warfare, that has a grand majority of loyal fans that YEARLY jump to the next game? As of August of 2015, Black Ops 2, a nearly 3 year old game at the time, had a concurrently active user base of 11 million.
-
14 Replieswooooooooooooooooooooooooooow that's a lot of retards
-
And everyone says nobody plays the game anymore..... *slow sarcastic clap*
-
1 ReplyEdited by Some Black Guy: 1/12/2016 3:51:04 AMDoes it take into account that at least 60% of the active player base has 2-3 Guardians? Is this number a representation of ALL accounts, or do the accounts with multiple characters count for multiple plays?
-
8 RepliesXmas, rentals and duplicates. I'll bet that you're a liberal.
-
That's not a lot.
-
2 RepliesIs this people or is this guardians? Because if it's guardians, then you can probably divide that number by 3 again. Cause most people have 3 different characters, and they play on all 3.
-
Lol,you're silly.
