So I realize that it's not very popular to have your main PC, but I do. What is your opinion on it?
I have steam, I mess around on Goat Simulator, play Gmod and Besiege, but my computer handles it fine.

I have a great ASUS laptop as my main. I can run games like Ark and Elite: Dangerous on High with no issues. Just depends on your build.
-
Depends on how good of a machine it is. But if yours is good and it suits your lifestyle and runs what you want it to the way you want it to then you're set.
-
Gaming laptops are more expensive because the company's take advantage of the fact that you can't build your own.

The way things are now, laptop gaming is getting better and better. If you only listen to one comment, listen to this one. With a full tower, you can make it cheaper, build it yourself, make it colder, and make it upgradeable. For a good laptop that compares to a 2000 dollar tower, you'll need to shell out 3000. But, with the advent of skylake processors and the new GTX 980 laptop version, which is just the full fledged 980, laptops are getting closer and closer to desktop power without spending as much. The only big problem is thermal throttle, which is when your parts get too hot and need to underclock themselves. Or, revealed at CES the other day, you can buy an ultra book with a good CPU, use that for mobility, but when you get home you can install an external graphics cage with a 980ti in it, for better performance than any system under 1500+-.

2 RepliesWhen did you think of your username? My friend has the same one lol. Just wondering

Laptops are cool and that if you want to game on your lap, still the most powerfull laptop GPU doesn't even come close to what you can put in a PC. You CAN get PC like performance if your willing to part with $1000's of dollars but for what? A portable PC? When you start talking that sort of money, go with a PC, you can built it how you like. There are mini motherboards and compact cases, you can have the most powerfull CPU and GPU out right now and fit it all in a case no bigger than an Xbox, there's your portability.

Edited by WarDaddy: 1/12/2016 2:32:01 AMI play league in my laptop runs at 100 - 120 fps
-
Laptops are okay but desktop =moar powah
-
Depends, are you attending school? Laptop would be more useful. Grown man? Work and heavy PC game all day
-
My pc right now is a laptop. That said I don't use it to play games
-
Depends on what you plan to play and if you want to be able to play current games that require more than your typical laptop can handle. If you like playing games that require a good video card and want to keep your machine to be able to play at max settings then a desktop would be cheaper as you would only be replacing a video card and depending which one you choose can actually be cheap compared to replacing a laptop. Laptops generally last about 2 years before you need to replace them (that's if you plan on buying new games and playing them at max settings).

Mine runs a lot of games really well

1 ReplyWhat do you consider "fine?" Because I considered 15fps fine when I still had a laptop. Besides, you don't need to listen to these people. They're console peasants. Get a tower, there's a whole world of PC games you can't run yet.
-
I have a MacBook Pro and boot camp it to run Rocket League, as well as a few other games!
-
For the games you listed it's fine, if you're trying to go full on Witcher 3 60fps 1080p... Then no, stop.
-
Is it any good spec wise? I have both PC and laptop. I use my laptop for gaming to play not so demanding games or old RTS like CnC or LOTR BFME. I use it mostly when I'm in my university on break.
-
Does it suit your needs? Yes? Then yeah, seems fine to me.
-
What laptop is it?
-
-
Depends. If you want to play higher end games you're not going to be happy with a laptop.
-
laptops are ok it's mainly if you want a powerful PC is when it's best to go with a desktop
