Destiny Standardized Testing: Second Test

At this time you'll be taking the Science Logic and Reasoning portion of the DST (Destiny Standardized Test). In this portion of the test you'll be examining various situations regarding science and reasoning within "Destiny", the world's first RNG and space-alien simulator all-in-one package. Due to the more difficult nature of this test, a calculator is permitted and a time limit is set at 25 minutes. A background in chemistry and physics is a plus. You may begin. Bolded Questions are worth double points. 1. The atmosphere on Venus is composed of 96.5% Carbon Dioxide and _____% Nitrogen gas, with negligible amounts of Sulfuric acid. If we took a one mole sample of carbon dioxide, how many moles of Oxygen would be present? How many grams of oxygen would be present in the same situation? (Oxygen molar mass is 16.00 g/mol). Be sure to answer the % Nitrogen gas, moles of oxygen, and grams of oxygen. Answer:
3.5% Nitrogen gas, two moles of oxygen for every one mole of carbon dioxide, and 32 grams of oxygen for two moles.
2. Omolon is designing a new, long range sniper rifle to combat the 1000-Yard Stare. Besides having 99% aim assist, the new rifle will have supersonic projectiles fired through a long bore barrel. The bullets can travel 350 m/s and begin to drop by .5 meters per ever 100 meters past 2,000 m. In a firing test, Omolon engineers fire a bullet that hits the ground 2,600 meters away from the barrel. How high is the barrel off the ground (assuming its perfectly horizontal with the ground) and how long was the projectile in the air? Neglect air resistance. Answer:
The barrel is 3 meters off the ground, because the projectile travels 600 meters past 2,000, meaning it will drop 3 meters. The bullet is in the air for 7.43 seconds, because 2,600 meters divided by 350 m/s is 7.43 seconds.
3. Phogoth has been genetically engineered to survive in the chamber where he is chained up. The gas composition in that room is 50% Carbon Dioxide (molar mass of 44.01 g/mol) and 50% Hydrogen gas (molar mass of 2.016 g/mol). The Vanguard are plotting to sabotage Phogoth's breathing supply by adding massive amounts of CO2 and removing Hydrogen gas using a special vacuum, in order to unbalance the 50:50 ratio of gas. After doing this, guardians take a 1 mole sample of gas from the room. They find it contains 22.005 grams of CO2 and 1.008 grams of Hydrogen gas. Have they altered the ratio of CO2 to H2 effectively? Hint:
Use the molar masses to find the moles of each gas.
Answer:
They have failed. There is .5 moles of CO2 and .5 moles of H2, so the ratio of gases is still the same.
4. Assuming the acceleration due to gravity is 9.8 meters per second squared, how long will it take for a 100 kg guardian to fall from the tower and hit the ground 230 meters below? Assume there is no terminal velocity and no air resistance. Hint:
Use the equation distance=1/2 at^2
Answer:
It will take 6.85 seconds for them to fall and hit the ground below.
5. Amanda Holiday uses a specialized form of gasoline, Xenofuel, for her sparrows. Unfortunately, some of this gasoline as begun leaking into a nearby fresh water lake. The gasoline's molecular composition leads it to be non-polar. The water, as with all water, is polar. Will the two substances mix together when they come into contact? Answer:
No, because they have opposite polarities, they will not mix together.
6. The Traveler and the Earth appear to both exert a force of gravitational pull upon each other. If the Earth has twice the mass of the Traveler, which body exerts more pull on the other? Answer:
Neither one has a greater pull on the other. They pull on each other equally.
7. In the Cosmodrome, many rivers have shaped the landscape, turning regular flowing streams into massive canyons over time. This process of wearing down rock over time is called _____________. Some of these rock formations are stacked or layered. These types of rocks are called ____________. They have also trapped the remains of old and ancient dregs, preserving them for ages. These remains are called ____________. Answers:
Erosion, sedimentary rock, and fossils
Please check your answers and comment below. Thank you again for your time and taking our tests. If you desire more test, please inform your proctor. Link for the previous test: https://www.bungie.net/en/Forum/Post/185303060/0/0
